The ferries are nice but the prices of the tickets have gone up. It simply doesn't make sense when the train goes to Parramatta as mymulti zone 2 but for ferries you will need mymulti zone 3. That aside, the view of the two sides of the river is really nice. Try route F3, from Circular Quay to Parramatta wharf as it gives you the best view of the Parramatta river. Note that the trip takes 1.5hrs one way.

If you buy the week transport pass ($57 or so), this is free and unlimited travel on the ferries (except Manly which needs a $60 pass). Great way to travel - and allows you to stay out of the city, eg at Admiral Collingwood Lodge in Drummoyne, which is great.

I wonder how long it takes before you get tired of gliding under the bridge or past the opera house?

We bought a day pass valid for all public transport including ferries. So we boarded one to a suburb. Really enjoyed the view, with Opera House and Harbour Bridge along the way. Nice weather too! A cheap and enjoyable way to admire the view
