“Its free, swept us over and how can this be??”

We saw the brochure on a rack at the hotel we last stayed in Sydney. We werent too sure what to expect but noted on tripadvisor the great reviews. We wanted to see what it's all about on this recent visit to Sydney again. Our meeting point was outside the Town Hall at 10.30am. There would have been about 60 of us as we were then split into two groups and there were about 30 in the group we were in. We were with Justine who told us that she owns the company and she and her team does this full -time and yes, for free. We were asked to consider donating as this is their income. She told us that she loves Sydney and di not feel that people on budgets should miss out when similar tours are at least A$35.
After near to 3 hours, we must say that Justine was fantastic in the route she took us, in her comprehensive knowledge and her sense of humour. Not a boring moment. Justine also exudes passion and enthusiasm. its unmistakable. We walked to places we had not ventured before and she pointed out the stories behind the bronze sculptures, the scene where "Matrix" was shot ie in the financial district etc etc etc. We would award her a medal. Amazing.
How can this be free? Yes, it was. A business based on donations and she runs this daily rain or shine!. How can this be? So, not only was the walking tour a highlight of our visit to Sydney but this young lady has left us admiring her courageto get a business going like she does and leaving us with the question as to how she does it. Singing praises, we fully recommend this walking tour. If you like what I've shared, do please click "like" so I know someone out there likes what I've shared. Cheers to Justine and her team.

“A bundle of Information!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 July 2014

I had seen high ratings of this tour on TripAdvisor and thought of trying the same while in Sydney and looking back, it seems it was one of the better decisions I made on the tour.

We took their flagship tour of the Sydney town the second day of our trip and the anecdotes and stories shared on the history and development of the city were not just information but fun as well. Tour involves walking through the main town and walking through or near the major landmarks starting from the Town Hall and ending near the Harbor Bridge. The 3 hours that you spend with Justine or any of her team are simply worth the time and money (whatever you wish to pay as tip)!

We were so impressed by the first tour that we made it a point to attend the 6:00 PM tour of the Rocks towards the end of our trip which was equally good.

Highly recommend both the tours to anyone visiting Sydney. We ourselves look forward to the tour in Melbourne whenever we visit the city.

“A great introduction to Sydney”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 July 2014 via mobile

I've made use of the "Free/ Pay what you can" model of tour in a number of cities in Europe. So when we only had one full day to wander around Sydney before flying home, I went looking for a similar tour here.

Our tour guide, Danika, did a great job of touring us about the main sites in the CBD. It was obvious that she enjoys her job.

As advertised, plan on spending 2.5 to 3 hours on the tour. There was a good balance of newer (last 50 years) and older historical sites (pre 20th century) included on the tour.

From our perspective the 'I'm Free Tour' was a great choice, especially given our limited time in the City. Give it a try and don't forget to bring along some gratitude for your guide (ie tip $$).

“Tons of interesting info packed into a free tour!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014 via mobile

Our tour guide (the owner) was absolutely adorable as well as dynamic! She shared so many interesting lil facts about Sydney's history on the tour and kept the group giggling the whole way. We went on the 1.5 hour evening tour and it was the perfect amount if time. Highly recommend it!
