We stayed here for two nights over a weekend. Arrived early and our bags were kept for us until check in. The room was reasonable for a 3 star hotel. Service was good at the bar downstairs and we didnt hear any noise at all. A private entry for hotel guests. Rooms were secure and safe despite another review. We were really pleased overall as the location was so central to transport and close by to crown st surrey hills.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not adjacent to the lift, this could be really annoying.

Had a business trip to Sydney in November and most places sold out.
This place had 1 room left and what a truly great find, rooms were clean and spacious, ensuite was clean, bar was busy and friendly. food was good and cheap. Really did feel at home. Keep up the good work. One of the best 3 star hotel i can say.

The location is excellent for central station. It is a pub, but they have tried hard with the rooms. We did request a quiet room, may be a bit difficult taking into consideration the location!! The double glazing and thick curtains helped. The furniture is a mix of antique, modern and just worn out.. WouLd only stay here again if we needed to use the railway station again, the staff were too busy to be anything more than mediocre.

we stayed here for 3 weeks during our stay to australia , and we had a corner room , which was to say the least very very large and roomy,,,,, the staff were extremely friendly and the bar staff were also friendly and helped us out on numerous occasions with organising our trips ,,, would definately stay there again ,, also the location is good for rail and bus services , and your only 15 mins from the airport ,,,,,,,

Room Tip: get a corner room

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The location is a great base to see Sydney's sights and take the train to the blue mountains. This hotel is also a pub and they basically run the hotel from the pub. Their check in times are between 2pm and 10 pm. My flight arrived in the early morning and storage lockers in Sydney are few and far between. So i contacted them in advance whether check in could be earlier. This was no problem. I got to the hotel, which is right next to Sydney central station, by train at 9 am. I dropped of the luggage there and they promised my room would be the first to get ready, which it was at 11:30 AM. In the mean time i went to see some of the city's sights. Circular Quay (opera house, harbour bridge, Botanic gardens) is only 5 minutes by train. The room itself has no phone nor does it have internet. . You can't even purchase the service. This was a minor discomfort though. The room was big and quiet enough. The food and drinks in the pub are very decent and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Contact them in advance and make a request.

Poor service, rooms not ready in time, dirty, furniture aged, lights partly missing, ...... Very good in giving the fault to someone else. Pictures from the website do not correspond with reality, either we had the worst room or stayed in a different hotel as displayed online. The only good thing is the location - it is central - but thats all.

There is no money for value. We have been ripped off - so to speak.

We got sick complaining about the basic things which went wrong or just did not match up to a standard service.

Room Tip: get a different hotel

This is a 3 star hotel, very close to central train station. From central station take the charmers st exit, redfern end of central platforms. Check-in was at the bar downstairs which was not a problem. Food at the pub bistro is very reasonably priced. No room service, have to go and get the food and drink yourself. we just walked to china town for dinner. Had to catch a flight from the international terminal so just got the train, which took 10 mins. Very low water pressure in the shower. I think they got one of those water saveing showerhead. Will stay again.
