“Just ok”

The meat is nice, but everything is too salty. Even the salad was salty! Prices are quite expensive so I was expecting better. The service is good and atmosphere is good too. But overall nothing memorable or special.

“Good but not great”

Nice atmosphere with fitting decor for a steakhouse. Very good and knowlegdable service. Menu is extensive, interesting and promising but also expensive. Focus is clearly on meat so expectations were high.

However they did not live up to the high expectations. Presentation of meats in our group was uninspiring and side dishes were disappointing. For example the fries were bland and tasteless whilst the mashed potatoes were far too creamy/ buttery. Bread selection was average as well. Personally I had the lamb which was well prepared but too thick in cut and not tender enough. Shame really because it can be so good if prepared correctly.

“OK, not great”

Another steak house with not a lot of distinguish it from the others. Not cheap. A real suit hangout. You wont be upset by the restaurant, just not enthralled.

“They know meat”

A fabulous experience. If you are a carnivore then you have to eat @ chophouse.

They know meat!!!

The carpaccio entree was full of flavour. The highlights were the wagyu beef which was flavoursome and perfectly cooked and the 1.5kilo beef tomahawk (shared between 2 of us).

It is remarkable how they can cook a whole rib of that size perfectly to medium. This meat was tender, succulent perfectly seasoned (no mean task) and heartily enjoyed.

To finish we had the cheese platter, the "blu" was the highlight.

The price per person was $125 and this included 2 bottles of red wine and 4 bourbons.

Some other highlights.. they had a singer and guitarist who entertained without being intrusive.

The service was friendly and the food came out in an efficient and speedy manner.

We had a fabulous night.

“Great steak, innovative atmosphere”

A client took me for my first visit here and what a treat it was! I have been back several times since - now something of a tradition when I visit Sydney. Location in quiet Bligh Street is close to many financial institutions and convenient. I have always eaten inside, downstairs (there are outside areas and an upper floor too from what I understand) and this seems to be the main dining area. Rustic, simple but atmospheric and very much suited to serious steak consumption. Something about it brings out the total Carnivore in me! I have tried three or four different steak offerings and they have always been exceptional - and the sides are very tasty as well. Salads are very fresh and tasty. Somewhat surprisingly the desserts are great as well! I say this because quite often dessert quality seems to not be as important in steakhouse restaurants.

Prices represent real value - rare these days!

Staff are friendly and attentive so I can only say good things about Chophouse!
