I am indeed impressed with this hotel. It's actually much more than a standard hotel - it's really much more like small apartments (of course that's what the name says!). I am staying here for 5 days before heading on to other places in Oz. The hotel is very well located close to China town and "Thai town" (there are at least 5 Thai restaurants on the street). The walk to the center of the city is easy and to the harbour not that much further for those used to walking. There is also a free bus the stops around corner that only has limited stops on the way to the Rocks/Opera House area. The area seems quite safe and there are plenty of coffee shops, pubs and eateries nearby. There is a large shopping center with a major grocery store just a few blocks away called the "Market". Worth buying some food to prepare in your room because Sydney restaurant prices are quite steep. There is also a Starbucks right across from the hotel (bonus).
The rooms are much larger than standard rooms in the US - nearly twice the size. And probably 3 times the size of a typical European room. Because the price is comparably less expensive than those rooms in the US (say compared to say a Hilton or Hampton, or Sheraton in a major US city), I really didn't expect them to be as nice as they are as well as having all the amenities. There is nearly a full kitchen in the room - two burner electric stove with oven, full size refrigerator, small sink, toaster, electric kettle, silverware, utensils, plates, pots, pans. One could easily live here for a month. The beds are very comfortable - again compared to my gold standard Hampton beds/pillows. There is a small table and two chairs for eating and an area to do computer/business work. The bathroom is reasonably large and modern (actually the decor in the entire room is quite "modern" and sleek. There is also a washer and dryer that could be very useful for moderate to long stays.
The pool, sauna and hot tub within the hotel are very nice, and towels are provided in the rooms to use for the pool/gym area. The staff is very helpful. The rooms (at least mine) are very quiet and clean and bright.
What more can I say? This place is a gem and well worth the price. It's on my list of places to return to.
