Was in Australia for a month and stayed at the Meriton on Campbell street at the beginning (in a 1 bed apartment) and the end (in a studio) of my trip. The 1 bed apartment was huge, 2 bathrooms a lounge area and kitchen which was well equipped with a oven, hobs, microwave and dishwasher. There was also a washing machine and dryer in the room. The Studio was obviously smaller but had everything we needed. All of the things about apart from the oven and extra toilet were in there so for a couple who were just using it as a base it was more than enough. One slight negative which wouldn't effect my score is the fitness facilities. I didn't go to Sydney to use the gym but due to jet lag was up very early so went to use the pool which was cold but very nice. The spa and sauna however were also cold and after pouring 2 buckets of water on the coals I began to get a sweat. Again I only mention this to give a full review as it had nothing to do with my reasons why I booked my stay here.
The location is a short walk from Central train station which the main airport train line stops at. The train only had 2 stops between the airport and central and took about 15 min's and cost a little over 16 Australian dollers. The main harbour is about a 30 min walk in a straight line along George St passing a variety of shops. The train also goes to Circular Quay (Opera house & harbour bridge) but we always choose to walk. Darling Harbour was about 15 mins walk.
The staff at reception couldn't do enough for us, check in was quick and easy. They would give information about tours and book taxi's. They also have a email address that you can send them so you can get things printed off. Eg boarding passes. We also had our beds made and toiletries replaced everyday which I don't think is policy but wasn't going to complain about.
Would certainly use again and recommend to friends visiting the city.
