“Enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014

The Holiday Inn provides comfortable if fairly basic accommodation. The room was quiet, of a decent size and had everything we needed. The location is great, so close to the opera house and circular quay. Would definitely recommend a walk around the rocks, we left this to our last day, but were really pleased we saw all the old buildings under the bridge. We were a bit useless in finding restaurants, though we did eventually find a great street of restaurants very near the hotel, though they were pricey and would have needed to have booked in advance.

This hotel is in perfect location, in the heart of the rocks. Only a 1 minute walk to the harbour bridge and 3 minutes to Circular Quay. Our room had a fantastic view, looking over the city and Circular quay. Our friends room, had an amazing view of the harbour bridge! The rooms are very clean, tidy and cosy and the staff are very helpful. We arrived early for our check in and were unexpectedly surprised that our room was ready for us. The hotel also a roof top with spa and pool which was great and gave 360 degree views of all of Sydney. We loved the buffet breakfast restaurant on level 1, the food was delicious and had a great variety.
Overall great hotel.

We just had our second stay at Old Sydney Holiday Inn and were as happy as we were the first time.

It really is in such a great location, right in the middle of The Rocks in amongst restaurants, bars, shops and just a short walk to The Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Circular Quay and the CBD.

The hotel is immaculate, staff so friendly, welcoming and helpful and the buffet breakfast amazing!

Though it was a bit cold for us this stay, the rooftop pool has a view like no other and the spa was actually heated so we could have had a dip if we had chance.

The rooms are quite basic but have everything you want. The bathrooms pokey (toilet paper is in such a stupid spot!) and bath and showers not built for us six footers but they have everything you need and the beds and pillows are heavenly. We had such great nights sleeps here.

We had just a couple of minor irritations during our stay.... The first being that we had pre-booked a cot for 16 month old and it was not set up when we arrived. Given it was 10pm, I think there had been plenty of time prior to organise that! The cot supplied was like concrete so we requested some extra blankets and the were delvered promptly.

Secondly, we had booked a King Executive Room so expected a room that was more spacious and perhaps with a bit of a view, ours had neither. Most annoyingly we had been put on a floor that required going down a level of stairs to get to. This wasn't really the best room to give to guests with a toddler and pram!

The breakfasts offer a load of yummy choices and are highly recommended, love the juice bar! We also ordered in-room dinner and that as fresh, yummy, good value and promptly delivered!

You can't go wrong with this hotel. We'll stay again for sure :-)

Room Tip: Rooms on upper levels at the front of the hotel are more likely to get glimpses of the Opera House a...

Dear madhollywood,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. Thank you for your loyalty. We would like to apologise for the mix up with the cot for your child and that we had mistakenly allocate a room on one of our heritage floors which have the indirect lift access. We certainly understand that this would have been frustrating when travelling with a toddler. Please accept our apologies. At the time we were experiencing very high occupancies and were limited with these room types.

Thank you for your positive comments about our staff and our breakfast offering. We are also looking into replacing a few more of our cots to ensure that all are comfortable and modern.

We are sorry that we did not live up to all our usual high standards and hope to be able to make this up to you when you next return.

Thank you once again for choosing to stay with us.

Kind regards,

Rob & Team Holiday Inn Old Sydney

This hotel was a great find and a great experience from the moment we walked in the front doors to the friendly staff that welcomed us to the upgrade with a harbour bridge partial view and a comfortable room.

They were very gracious with holding our bags while we toured the city before an evening flight home.

The hotel had a lovely fireside retreat and an amazing roof top pool/hot tub and viewing deck.

I will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, late check out and free wifi although we were club members of Holiday In...

We only had about 24 hours in Sydney so I decided to get something right in the middle of everything. You really cannot beat the location of this hotel - 5 minutes from circular quay, opera house, etc...
And, to top it all off, it has an amazing view from the rooftop deck!!
We arrived way before check-in, but they let us go into our room. The staff was really helpful with arranging a cab the next day as well as advice where to go, what to see.
Rooms were really nice, beds amazingly comfortable.

Stayed here recently with my partner for a few days stopover in Sydney en route to New Zealand. Room was comfortable and clean - complete with view of sydney opera house / harbour bridge. The hotel was quiet at the time, we were slightly off-peak, and so we had the roof-top pool / spa all to ourselves at times which was lovely. Reception service was swift and friendly, and we had few issues. Slight wear and tear in places, but everywhere is kept clean. Would stay here again if I was passing through.

Room Tip: Ask for one view a view (sydney opera house / bridge) worth the extra in my opinion.

Fantastic location right in the Rocks. Breakfast was huge, beds were comfortable. Nothing flash but we had a very enjoyable long weekend. We were there during the Vivid festival so it was right in the hub of everything. Walking distance to the Harbour Bridge and Opera House, and the Rocks Market is right outside the hotel.
