“Love the Hilton”
Reviewed 28 July 2009

Fourth stay at the Hilton and as usual excellent service and location, and a very comfortable room (although small). The Hilton is very well positioned within Sydney CBD, it is right next to the Town Hall train station and right next to a mono rail stop, as a consequence you can get anywhere you need to go quickly and easily. As others have indicated, the Hilton Breakfast in the Glass Restaurant is excellent, for those staying on the executive floors, you have a choice between eating in the lounge or in the restaurant. The health club is excellent and has a very nice lap pool, hot tub and a number of steam rooms and saunas.

We stayed here for one night before an onward flight and it was a great location for a stay. Only downside was that they did not allocate us the connecting rooms I had requested, but we soon got over that. Although we stayed here for leisure, it appeared to be a predominantly business hotel and a busy one at that with lots of movers and shakers sitting in reception drinking cappuccinos. While the room was comfortable and ticked all the boxes for facilites, including the flatscreen TV in the shower, it lacked warmth and cosiness and I wouldn't be keen in spending an extended period of time here, although maybe that is by design! However breakfast was excellent and if you can get a rate including breakfast even better as it was quite pricey. For the health conscious they have lots of options including a 'smoothie chef' who was making some very interesting and tasty concotions! Sydney tower is nearby and it was excellent for dinner and fabulous views of the city. The reception staff were functional more than friendly although the doormen/concierge were excellent as we had a lot of luggage. I would return again, but it would only be for a short stay.

We managed to book the Hilton for 3 nights through Lastminute.com and got a really good deal. The reviews on tripadvisor were good but we really got lucky with this hotel. The only issue is location which is not perfect for tourists being on the other side of the central business district but walking round Sydney is hardly a chore!
Front desk was busy with check ins but after a little confusion we were allocated our relaxation room on floor 28. The room was superb, stylishly appointed and in some hotels would be sold as a junior suite. The whirpool bath was a centrepiece and was a joy. The bed was very comfortable and my partner needed different pillows which were delivered within minutes.
We had an upgrade so had use of the business lounge on floor 36 where snacks and drinks are provided free of charge.
We went up there on the second evening but were told it was full (everyone tucking into the freebies!) However no problem as the more than obliging hostess gave us a voucher to have a drink in the swanky Marble Bar downstairs. The gesture was appreciated although the bar was a bit lively with the after work crowd on a friday evening.
Breakfast was first class. Breads, pastries, fruit, juices, smoothies, bacon , sausages, pancakes, miso soup, you name it it was available. The staff at breakfast could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Overall we found the Hilton Sydney to be a genuine 5 Star Hotel. It had a really good buzz/vibe about it. I think that is down to the well trained, highly motivated and friendly staff and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

I've stayed here a lot but not since it's refurbishment and I was impressed. It's now super modern and minimalist but still comfortable.
Memorable touches include plasma screens in the shower(!) and futon style beds.
The location - right on Pitt st just can't be beaten if if you want to be right in the city.
Service was fine, it's a pretty busy place so there's no personal touch but that's fine by me.

This place's best asset is its location and its breakfast buffet. The room itself, even though on the executive floor, was very problematic -- from a broken ventilation system, to leaking water pipes, to a toilet that didn't work properly. They gave me a modest break off my bill, but what they really need do is regularly inspect and maintain their rooms, especially if they're to charge such high rates.

My room was well-appointed and up-to-date. Bed, desk, fixtures and bath were all great. Business Centre was convenient and well-staffed. Only real issue I had with the hotel was the price of internet access. I suppose I'm spoiled by the many hotels in North America where internet is free.
