We stayed here for two nights. The apartment room was quite spacious with a small kitchenette but it lacked a conventional toaster. The mini bar fridge had enough space for our additional items; water and beer. The shower and bed were OK. Although the safe was wide enough to take my lap-top, if the door could be fully opened, it was poorly located inside the wardrobe so the thick safe door reduced access preventing me using it for my lap-top. The location of the hotel was ideal for us being very close to the south side of Hyde Park. The taxi fare, outside of rush hour, to and from the airport was about AUD 35 each way, only slightly more than the train fare for two. It's just a few minutes' walk to Museum Station, two stops to Circular Quay for the ferries and Opera House, etc. Ten minutes walk to China Town and lots of reasonably priced restaurants and food courts.

The room was comfortably big enough for two adults and plenty of space to hang our clothes and put our suitcases to one side. In-room equipment and facilities are generally of a good standard and we made use of the in-room safe and free wifi which was a welcome bonus. Kitchen facilities are good, even if you don't intend cooking any meals it's still handy to have things like a fridge, kettle and cutlery/dishes available for snacks or breakfast before heading out. Although we were only on the 4th floor you couldn't really hear any outside noise and we couldn't hear other hotel guests either. Front desk staff were helpful enough and looked after our baggage on checking-out day before our evening flight home. You can also borrow travel adaptors to charge any gadgets. Overall a pleasant stay for the price you pay and I would recommend this to travellers thinking of staying in the Surry Hills area.

Rooms - well equipped with microwave, crockery, cutlery, toiletries, towels etc. lighting is a poor, plug points are less. Comfortable beds and pillows. Don't expect any view outside the window.

Service - service in general is good, but they don't replace toiletries if you stay for less than 4nights. We had requested for some and they promptly gave us some. But have seen this throughout Australia. So it's not specific to this hotel.

Location - location is great. Very close to Museum road station, it's a 2 minute walk. Direct train from airport is available. Plenty of bus stops nearby to go in different directions. Hyde park, cathedral, NSW museum is in walking distance.

There was good 1+1 offer in bar.

Sydney transport - we bought 7 days pass from the airport itself, this included unlimited travel in train, bus, ferry, and one time return transfers for airport at AUD 161. We thought this was completely worth it even though we were there only for 4 days. Travel is Sydney is expensive otherwise.

Only a few issues :

1. Not all TV Channels worked. Not all Foxtel Channels worked.
2. Noise level if on the lower floors and facing the main road.
3. Air Conditioner is on a 5 hour time limit! (This was rectified by staff the next day!)

Room Tip: Higher floors not facing the main street. Confirm if the airconditioner has a 5 hour time limit!!!

As a family of 5 it is hard to find somewhere at a reasonable price that caters for us comfortably. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived, 4 comfortable clean beds, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and DVD player. What more can a family need. We were also surprised at how quiet it was considering the location.

I have stayed several times at Stellar over several years, with and without family, and I am consistently impressed with the freshness and comfort of the room fitout and the standard of service received from the staff.

When travelling, I usually judge a hotel room by 5 aspects (not in any order)

- location
- cleanliness
- features of the room
- water pressure in shower
- noisiness
- feeling safe

This hotel scored high on the first 4, but almost lost all her points on the last 2

Location
Right across Hyde Park
30 min walk to Opera House and 10 from Museum train station which gets you to airport in 15 min (take Elisabeth/liverpool exit, turn left. Walk up to College street and turn right (on right side, College = Wentworth). You have to walk 2-3 min. FYI : No escalator in the station and 32$ round trip)

Cleanliness
Super clean

Features in the room
Small kirchen with water boiler, microwave, fridge, glasses, cups, utensils etc. There's also a safe, a desk and a 3 drawers 2 doors vanity

Water pressure
Great

Noisiness
I didn't hear the elevator going up pr down and I couldn't hear the neighbor when she was walking on the carpet in her room. I did however hear everything she did in her kitchen. Not only that, the rooms' doors are so close (mine was anyway. Room 502) that whenever she opened her door, I thought she was coming into my room. Woke me up a couple of times

Feeling safe
No double locks, no peep hole amd a feeling the neighbor was coming into my room once every hour (I assume she was a smoker cuz she came in or out of her room VERY often) = not feeling safe at all

In sum, if you're travelling with friends or family, please go to this hotel, it'll e worth your money. Alone? Never again
