“Good Location”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

We find the location of this hotel near to places of interests like Chinatown, Hyde Park, St Mary's Cathedral, Central Station and the Australian Museum. We frequently made our way to Chinatown as there are good and affordable eats. The room size is spacious but the single beds are a tad too small.
We find most of the hotel staff friendly enough except for the person checking us in. The check-in staff did not greet us with a smile and unfortunately had no flexibility to allow us to check in early although we explained that we had been travelling for more than 24 hours and that we were exhausted. We understand that hotel policies of check in times are in the afternoon but we feel they should be flexible especially that we have booked our room for 6 nights.

The hotel is conveniently located a few hundred metres from the Museum train station, and is a pleasant 30 minute walk to Circular Quay. It is also not too far from the free 555 bus, but the only times we caught the bus it was crowded (people had to be turned away it was so full), so we found walking to be more pleasant.

As the room we booked was not available, we were upgraded to an apartment. This was spacious for the three of us, but has difficult access, and also has no view and was a bit dark. We moved to a room overlooking the park. The room still had plenty of space, and a pleasant outlook across the intersection to Hyde Park.

The free wifi was a positive. Overall a good experience and good value.

Although the room decor is understated, the size and cleanliness of the room were appreciated. For what I paid, this room had all that I needed and more - kitchenette, DVD player, wi-fi, chocolates on the bed, lots of pillows, couch etc. Handy to Museum station or a walk up the hill from Central. It has double windows but the sirens of emergency services were still heard. I felt secure and slept very well.

We stayed here for 4 nights off the backend of a cruise. We had never been to Sydney before and wanted somewhere central that we could walk and see the city and this motel ticked every box. The room was large and clean with a full kitchenette. There was a convenience store a couple of buildings down and the staff were more than helpful with telling us where the best places to eat are and shop. They even created a little map for us to follow. I would recommend staying here and the price was very competitive with other motels.

Excellent location. Friendly helpful staff. Room great. Food not bad.
We walked to the Opera house from here lots to see on the route as well.
The hotel has luggage storage facilities so an early flight arrival can be accommodated. Road noise not a problem in room 502 which is on the road side the aircon unit was noisier than the road! Again on the aircon it is on a 5hr cycle so knocked off over night, not a problem in April but may be one in December!! Our room had everything we needed and there was no disturbance from other hotel guests or the lift, just usual hotel noises. We ate in our room in the evening as we were tired (long flight from UK) and although the menu is not extensive the food was ok and the lasagne was yummy.

I was a bit unsure about this hotel when I arrived late on a Friday night to find noisy people outside the nightclub a few doors down and a backpacker hostel just over the road but thankfully my worries were unfounded.

The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay assisting with shuttle bus bookings and looking up restaurants - even printing directions for how to get there. My partner found an empty bottle hidden at the back of the mini-bar on arrival and they were quick to swap it for a new one as we were worried we would have been charged if housekeeping had found it the next day.

The room was big with good facilities although the bathroom smelt of mildew and there were hairs in the shower when we got there.

I asked for a quiet room away from street noise which we were given and it was mostly quiet. However, the bathroom window is not double-glazed and at night we left the door open with our nightlight plugged in to see when we got up in the dark and we could hear people shouting in the street and the rubbish trucks.

There were a couple of computers available to use for free which was useful as I didn't have a laptop or phone with me and some informative leaflets on different areas of the city with shop and restaurant listings.

I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.

Room Tip: 406 (I think! )was next to the laundry room but we weren't disturbed by it and it the power to i...

We stayed in Room 302. Room had good WiFi, lots of space, hot water kettle, microwave, panini press(?) and fridge. Good assortment of instant coffee and tea, although no herbals. Very convenient to buses and t2 train. About 5-7 minute train ride to circular quay. Couple of well stocked supermarkets within 3 blocks, as well as a number of restaurants and wine/liquor stores. All front desk staff very helpful.

Hotel was also convenient to lots of attractions and shopping. Also walkable to Circular Quay, although it probably takes 20-25 minutes.

Upon checking out, we were able to leave quite a bit of luggage in the locked storage room.

Very nice stay.
