Stayed here for five nights of our honeymoon - room was amazing, spacious and the bed was rediculously large and comfortable, while the view of the harbour was sensational. We were only B&B, but the breakfasts were one of the best I've ever experienced in my life - worth staying for that alone. Only one grumble was on arrival, after flying from Belfast to London to Bangkok to Sydney was being told our room wouldn't be ready until 3pm - we arrived at 6am! The only option was to pay 80 dollars a night for an upgrade for the five nights so that we could get a lie down - not impressed with that, but the rest was great.

Stayed for 1 night in a horizon club suite. Room was very spacious with terrific views. Enjoyed a lovely room service meal which came quickly and was still piping hot. Only major disappointment was the business services in the horizon club. I wanted to photo copy a 26 page document. The service assistant at the time said she could do it but it would be slow as the copier only had capacity to copy 1 page at a time. She suggested I email it to her as printing would be quicker. I got the laptop out to do so them her superior would not allow her to release the email address and said she had to photocopy it. So............she started to photocopy it then some guests arrived to check in so she asked her superior to come finish of the copying so she could attend to the other guests. He copied 1 page then left. 20 mins later still no copies and I had to leave else I would have missed an important meeting. I considered this lack of service really disappointing. I would not stay here for business ever again.

We stayed here 10 years ago just when Shangri La took it over - we had a great stay then and it's in a super spot . Really dissapointed this time around started off by probably the worst welcome from Daniella on receprion that we have had for some years . We were allocated a Harbour View room instead of an Opera House room in error by our travel operator and politely pointed this out only for our key to be thrust towards us and told it can't change we are full , no empathy no smile .

We went to the lobby bar for a drink and it was very empty , 3 bar staff saw us walk in whilst they were chatting - after 10 minutes with no service I had to go and ask for service.

After 2 nights we moved rooms and when given the key we went in to find another guest in there - back to reception , wait , new room , given keys , go to room , keys didn't work - chaos.

I was going to say it has the hallmarks of a business hotel now but if that was the case you would have decent wi Fi . It doesn't , it drops on and off and very poor bandwidth .

Everything is very average except Colin the concierge who is brilliant and stands out . Maybe he should show some of his colleagues how its done .

I have stayed here several times over the past few years and it is always a good experience. I've had an upgrade once to a suite and have always had rooms with good views over the harbour and opera house which I think is a key part of the experience. On a couple of occasions room service was not perfect, but the staff happily corrected this. Check in and out is as smooth as you can expect given the high traffic at this hotel. A big plus is the great location - an easy walk for meetings in the city or to great restaurants in the Rocks and city. If they could somehow triple the size of the bar at the top of the hotel, we would all appreciate it!

First time stay for a special occasion. The views of Harbour Bridge , the Opera House and Circular Quays is spectacular. We booked the premier harbour view room and got high floor. We could literally see a panorama while lying on the bed and get up to see sunrise over the opera house in the morning while still on the bed.

The relationship officer send use a free bottle of champagne and gourmet chocolate box when we mentioned that we chose Shangri-La for a special occasion, absolutely delighted with their gesture.

From the start we knew this was going to be great. The service was excellent and the location near the Rocks and the port was helpful. The shops and the park are a short walk away.

We had an Exec Room overlooking the Opera house with great views. The room was clean spacious and well equipped.

We only had breakfast in the hotel but in the coffee area on the ground floor where it was better value then the restaurant which at $40 for a full breakfast is, i think, expensive.

We enjoyed the views on the 36 floor bar but found the music a bit loud. Would have been much better with more gentle music frankly.

Only one real negative is every walk in every direction means a steep hilly walk back so if you had mobility issues it would be difficult.

Great hotel and no hesitation in recommending it.

Loved the view towards the Opera House from the room. Staff were very friendly and always offering to assist. Location is fantastic to access Sydney! A drink in the Blu Bar on the 36th floor is a must at sunset.
