A great location, and fantastic views of the harbour and opera house. A well run hotel that makes you feel very welcome. Fantastic family room that we all enjoyed staying in, separate area for the sofa bed with their own tv. Lovely large main room and perfect bathroom. This hotel really set us up for a great family time in sydney.

I stayed here with my sister on a girls break away. It was a great place to stay. The room was lovely and the service was great. All of the staff we encountered during our stay were friendly and helpful. The only downfall was walking up that big hill to get there but when we had a big day out shopping we caught a taxi back and got delivered to the front door. It was worth it all for the view.

The shangri-la is one of the best hotels in Sydney definitely in my top 3!
We stayed over New Years and although the hotel was full we never felt ontop of other guests, except the lifts of course - we waited 15mins one day & ended up taking the stairs but that can always be expected when the hotel is full.
The staff were always very friendly & I liked the fact on New Year's Eve that there was security checking room keys etc - it makes you feel a lot safer when there are thousands of people around. They take very good care of you there!
The room we stayed in was a deluxe harbour view room - it was amazing especially to view the fireworks! We could not fault the room it was immaculate, the only thing I could hear the lift at night but it wasn't a huge issue - just ask for a room away from the lifts.
One other thing which I thought wasn't so great we asked for a bucket of ice on NYE and was told it would be $10 a I couldn't believe it when every other day its free!
The hotel is right in the hustle & bustle of the rocks area it's great to go to circular quay & also the restaurants and bars in the rocks - there is quiet a steep hill from George street up to the hotel if you are coming from that direction so if you have trouble walking maybe best to catch a taxi if you can.
The pool is only small but when you go to Sydney I would rather be out & about at the beach than swimming in an indoor pool - there is so much to explore in this great city especially when the weather is good!
Overall an amazing stay and would definitely stay again! :)

Room Tip: Definitely a room with a harbour view, you may pay a little more but it is worth it to have the mill...

Dear M0ppy,

Thank you for choosing to spend your New Year’s with us at Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney. I am grateful that you appreciated the extra level of detail that was put into place during your stay, such as the heightened security. We know that this is a very busy time for our guests and we want to ensure that everyone is safe and secure while enjoying the festivities at our hotel. We ask for your understanding with the nominal room service fee for last minute requests during New Year’s Eve as this is a busy period for our in-room dining team as well. I hope the view of the fireworks from your room left a lasting impression on you and your loved ones and we can’t wait to welcome you back to our hotel soon.

Best regards,

Arpad Romandy
Hotel Manager

Where to begin? It's near the train station from the airport... I arrived at 930AM and hoped to check my bags prior to checking in late afternoon. Instead, they put me in a room immediately. I took a quick shower, walked around, then took a nap... and left for the night at 8pm. When I got in- really late- they'd made my bed! Who has ever heard of a housekeeping service that works after 8pm and services a room the same day you check in?!

My room was huge. I'd been hoping to take photos of the opera house... and found that the view from my room beat the view from the harbor dock.

Staff opened doors for me and generally asked what they could do to be helpful... in short, this place is amazing- can't wait until my next stay!!!

Conveniently located in The Rocks neighborhood with stunning panoramic views of Sydney Harbor, treat yourself to a magical home base while in Sydney. Convenient walking distance to Sydney Open House, Circular Quay and Harbor Bridge.
Rooms are luxurious and spacious with modern contemporary yet warm furnishings. Cushioned window ledge seating to take in the views of Sydney Harbor are a nice touch. We were fortunate to get a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Grand Harbor View Suite. Spanning nearly 1000 sq. feet, this corner suite had a large marble bath with separate shower and soaking tub, two separate vanities, separate water closet(toilet), and a curtained wall of windows overlooking Sydney Harbor. The corner bedroom had two walls of windows, a small sitting area, king bed and LCD TV. The separate lounge was nearly the size of the bedroom, with queen sleeper sofa, writing desk, and wet bar. The foyer even had a separate half bath.

Treat yourself to a drink at their excellent bar, Blu on the 36th floor for panoramic night views of the bridge, opera house and harbor.

Apart from the first night when the AC broke down it was another good stay at this hotel. Spent 7 nights here. Excellent staff esp reception. Good food available at cafe mix. The walk up the hill doesn't get any easier!

We had another wonderful stay, this time enjoying the Executive Grand Harbour view suite...beautiful views and with flow of ships coming in and out was fabulous!

Staff were very engaging at the Horizon Club lounge as well.
It was a wonderful addition having this included, we used the lounge for canapés, drinks and afternoon tea on different days and provided great value.

Bed was delish and those pillows..ahh!
Sofa bed was disappointing! Crunchy and feel the springs thru in certain parts.

Fabulous location of course!
