Wonderful accommodation & service. Large tasteful rooms. Amazing view. Breakfast and dinner fresh & delicious with a wonderful range of food to chose from. The staff were courteous and could not do enough for you. The hotel boasts sensational facilities, all immaculate.

Room Tip: Beautifully appointed. Wonderful service

Loved this hotel!!! It was comfortable, our room really did have a fabulous view of the harbor, Opera House and bridge -- and it had 2 big window seats for enjoying the view!!! One review I read faulted the restaurant on the first floor. They did have a wait, but the line (only for breakfast) moved quite quickly. We were there during the Rotary International Convention (18,000 people in Sydney for that). The food was exceptional. I have never been to a buffet breakfast with 3 kinds of lichee fruit to choose from in addition to lots of other kinds of fruit, cereal, cold meats, fish, nuts, juice, smoothies, breads and hot items. There is another with a bar and more fabulous view on the top floor. The concierge, Alex, was very helpful, efficient, kind and attentive. I had a problem with some bug bites I got during a "bush walk" and the hotel helped me a lot. Superb service!!! One recommendation: there are some new immigrant taxi drivers who say they know the location where you want to go, but then you find out they don't have a clue--- get directions from the hotel before you leave so you can guide the driver if necessary -- it happened to us 2x. The hotel will happily give you directions! And a map, too. Walking is early and safe and the hotel is not too far from the Circular Quay (pronounced Key there) where you can get a ferry or train. Lots of other restaurants to choose from on George St. There are convenience stores where you can get some fruit and there is a Starbucks near Circular Quay too, if you like that or 24 hour shops like Pie Face for coffee or snacks.

Room Tip: Ask for Harbor View between floors 22 - 29.

Friendly check in staff, spacious room and bathroom. Brilliant view on 11th floor of Harbour Bridge AND Opera House as well as water views. The king bed and pillows were the MOST comfortable I have EVER experienced in a hotel. Not the cheapest but a treat for location and comfort.

Room Tip: Room 1112 great views

The hotel is situated in a great spot, close to many attractions of Sydney Harbour and The Rocks area, which has so much of Sydney's history, great pubs and restaurants.
Check in took 10 minutes. We had a Opera House view room 22nd floor which had a view right down to the Sydney Heads. Especially great sunrise view.
Bathroom is fantastic, bed and pillows very comfortable.
We could leave our car in their car park after check out time at no extra cost whilst we enjoyed the day.
Buffet breakfast was one of the best I have encountered. Different style dishes to the normal bacon and eggs. Staff were courteous and friendly.
Overall a wonderful weekend to see spectacular Sydney for the outstanding Vivid festival.

Room Tip: If you have the $$$$$ get a grand harbour view

Great service and beautiful rooms. Cannot fault the Shangri-La. The staff were friendly and helpful and always knew what we needed, they made our stay enjoyable and we will definitely be staying there again next time we are in Sydney.

Room Tip: We stayed in a harbour view room and it was worth the price!

I booked a few Deluxe Grand Harbour view rooms for a family birthday, mainly for the views described and the pictures shown. The main drawcard for us was the size of the rooms, nearly double the size of comparable hotels in the area.

Not the easiest hotel to locate and access, which is understandable given its location in an old part of Sydney. It is perched high up on a hill, and could do with some more direct signage and easier access points for those with children and older family members.

Attempted to check in at 1pm, was told no rooms were available and we would be called. We left our bags and went and had a late lunch. No call after lunch, so we went and saw some of the sights.

5pm came and still no call, even though they claim check in is 3pm. For an expensive room like this, the earliest check in for guests would be the best service experience. We checked in by 6pm and got to enjoy barely a day in this room before being asked to checkout at 11am! Hardly worth the expensive nightly rate.

Dissapointingly we were provided rooms on the 9th floor, I was expecting higher. Fortunately we were in close proximity to the others we were staying with.

The view was as described, albeit from a lower level. I was pleased, the room also had window seats which I found pleasant to enjoy my coffee in the morning sun.

The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was fantastic (amazing shower head) and even a speaker playing whatever sound you had on your TV (music, tv etc).

There was not much provided in the way of complimentary tea, coffee, snacks. There was only enough in my room to make coffee for two, before asking for it to be replenished. Not a great experience at a hotel of this calibre and price.

We ordered room service desert for the little ones, and was again dissapointed by the fruit and sweets provided. Very lackluster given the exorbitent pricing, we ended up leaving it out in the hall for collection.

All in all, you stay here for the view and perhaps some of the amenities. The lobby does have a nice fragrance, but the people that work here are often busy and can be rude when swarmed with people wanting their attention.

Would reccomend for a couples getaway, quiet weekend away.

Room Tip: Try and get a room away from the lifts, as they are noisy and kept me up all night. Also try and get...

This is lovely hotel in a good location in the rocks Sydney, the booking stated a 3pm checkin time and unfortunately we did not get our room till 3.30 and only then because we pushed! There was also a long queue in lobby. The room was large, clean and had a spectacular view, ours was a grand harbour view! The only down side was we could hear the elevators! Overall though a good hotel.
