Having stayed here before I was somewhat disappointed from the moment I walked into the foyer. The reception staff ignored me and then advised me that my room wasn't ready (I arrived at 7pm at night) - customer service zero. Rooms comfortable but starting to look tired. Food at the restaurants great quality and the wait staff very attentive and helpful. Bar service slow but view from floor 36 amazing!! Would I go back - not sure at this stage. Would I recommend this hotel to others - somewhat hesitant.

Stayed here for a few nights for a family function. It's a great hotel - we were upgraded on arrival and had a terrific view of the opera house and the bridge. The rooms are large and clean. Well decorated and very comfortable bed. The hotel staff were lovely and seemed to go out of their way to accommodate us.

The location is close to the Rocks and great for sight seeing.

Great hotel - well worth it.

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the harbour - a must.

I was lucky enough to be taken here for my 30th birthday as a surprise from my fiance.
My partner and I stayed in a Premier Grand Harbour View room and it was beyond opulent.
Not only were the views sensational, the room and its fittings were also top notch, clean and in keeping with the rooms style.
The bed was also very comfortable, and has a fantastic view when resting in bed at night. The lights of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge are breathtaking.

The staff are very helpful and cheerful, and I also received a lovely piece of birthday cake and best wishes from the hotel.

My only gripe would be where the hotel is positioned. It's probably situated in the best place for magnificent views, however if you have any ailments with your legs it can be a struggle walking up and down the stairs/steep ramps towards the hotel from the street and up to the hotel lobby.

Saying that we spent the extra money and just caught a taxi most mornings to take us into the CBD.

All in all if you are looking for luxury, spectacular views from the harbour side rooms and exceptional service then I wouldn't go past this hotel.

Made my birthday all the more special to have fireworks erupt one night from the harbour due to a football match win! Amazing!

Room Tip: Book the Premier Grand Harbour View room, you will not regret it!!

I hadn't stayed at the hotel for 6 years, but nothing has changed. The foyer is still a sterile space with a low ceiling, quite uncharacteristic of other Shangri-La hotels I have stayed in. I had booked an Horizon Club room on level 31, harbor view. Certainly the view is the highlight. The room itself was of a good size, with everything you might expect of a top tier property. The bed was barely Queen size, and had one of the softest mattresses I have come across. It wasn't uncomfortable, but I felt I had to climb out of it, rather than step out.
The Horizon Club was closed for renovation, of which I had been pre-warned. The temporary facility on the groundfloor was nothing special, and I didn't spend any time there.
The hotel's proximity to the Rocks area is a distinct advantage, as there are many good restaurants and old-style pubs within a 5 minute walk.
Worth a stay, especially if you have time to enjoy the views.

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view. Club rooms run from about Level 30 to 36. Better value wh...

Sydney's Shangri-la hotel is a nice place to stay on business or for pleasure.
Situated near Circular Quay, the CBD and The Rocks it is a stroll to most places in and around the city.
It is near buses, trains and ferries so transport is easy.
Service is good, menu is strong and rooms are very clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Eastern side have views of Circular Quay

My wife selected this hotel for a short break during a business trip I was on. She selected it for the location and views over the harbour described on the website. On arrival to our room we were not dissapointed, as were greeted by some spectacular views across the harbour, unfortunately not of the Opera House, but still spectacular.

Our room was fantastic, with plenty of room, large comfortable bed and bathroom. I rate bathrooms on the power and size of the shower and this was one of the best, great after a long day exploring Sydney.

The bar at the top of the hotel, is a must visit, as it gives views from high above the Opera House and Bridge, which look amazing at night. The restaurant also at the top, was well worth a visit with very good food, (separate review).

Can not say enough about the members of staff working the reception area. Everyone one of them were so helpful and full of advice, to help us get the most out of our stay in Sydney.

The only criticism I can make is regarding the over attentive room service. Checks to see if the room was ok and made up, were to frequent, rather annoying when you are trying to get a little rest after long walks. This should be a positive, but it was a bit over the top.

Would recommend this hotel, if you want to be centrally located in walking distance of the key sights, just be warned there is a very steep hill to climb coming back from the circular quay area.
