The Shangri-La Hotel was a fantastic place to stay. Great location close to the city, Circular Quay and of course the Rocks. Staff were lovely, informative and very welcoming. If you get the chance stay here.

We have stayed at this hotel before and knew what to expect in terms of service and facilities. Everything was a delight, except for their staff. Professional, dry and unwelcoming (except for restaurant staff - they were fabulous). Had an altercation with the bell desk manager who gave us the wrong directions, there was no apology. Staff are either unknowledgeable or had a superior attitude and tone. Not impressed at all.

Hotel is suitable for business, not family.

My most recent trip to Australia was okay, but not as impressive as previous ventures. The room was just average. There was a broken curtain I reported a few times to the desk that never really got fixed. The room itself was clean, but drab. When I called the hotel prior to arrival, I had requested early check-in. While I know this is no guarantee, I was told there were facilities I could use if I needed a shower, or to freshen up. That ended up being the tiny men's locker room at the gym, which when occupied by more than two people is not enough space for someone with luggage.

For the price and the service, I would consider another location next trip, but still think this is serviceable.

What an incredibly good hotel. A couple of items to consider.
I judge hotels on Many things but quiet at night is up there in importance. This is the quietest large hotel I've experienced for a long time.
Quality service.
About the bed however. King yes but a lump in the middle, where 2 beds join, with one side having a distinct u shape channel in the middle of it. Nice for a real close moment, not nice to be connected with your partner while you sleep. Don't get me wrong a comfortable sleep but separated by a hill top in the middle. Fix the bed please.
Food excellent although, for gluten dietary people there is no or not indicated on the in room menu any gluten free after 11pm items. GF is in the key just no items available after hours as indicated.
I'd still come back, for a very busy hotel the staff manage it well so it doesn't feel like your just a number.
Yes it's expensive but hey you get what you pay for.

I was very impressed with the service and staff at the Shangri-La in Sydney, they were extremely professional and friendly. I was upgraded from a deluxe King room to a corner suite which was very unexpected and very nice! I was on the 7th floor so although the views were still fabulous, I would have preferred to be a little higher - although that is certainly not a complaint! I could clearly see the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, so it's hard to get better than that.

The bed was extremely comfortable, an absolute joy to jump into!

All in all a great experience, the location is very good and it certainly has all the bells and whistles you would expect from a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: If possible, it's good to request a room on the higher floors.

Popped over to Sydney for our 20th Wedding Anniversary in January. Splashed out and stayed in a Premier Grand Harbour View room on the 17th floor. Amazing 270 degree view of Sydney Harbour taking in the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. A$500 per night but worth every cent. Extra large room with a suite feel. Everything from check in through to check out was top notch. Received a complementary bottle of champers in the room which was nice. First time we've ever received a nightly turn down service as well!!! Great location and well worth it for the experience.

Room Tip: Well worth splashing out on a Premier Grand Harbour View room, you won't want to shut the curtai...

Stayed in the executive opera house suite for 2 night with my partner and 1 year old. The view was amazing as was the service. The cot (which was no extra cost) was already waiting in the room all made up. Was a lovely family getaway with shops, restaurants and things to do so close by. The valet parking was a little steep but worth it as the valets were so nice and helpful.
