“OK hotel but not for business travellers”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

The hotel looks different from a standard hotel and location is excellent. But having to pay for WIFI with bad reception is not acceptable anymore nowadays. There is a gym, but outdated and running machine was broken. Very small bathroom.
No elevator! Noisy on the street side in the evening with partying public outside and traffic passing by. Outside terrace was closed.

This is one of those reviews that you think twice about posting! Why? Because the ugly truth is - i'm not sure i wantto share it! I consider this little boutique hotel a real find. Sydney accomodation is expensive unless you want to feel like a backpaker - and i personally am beyond that. This hotel is in a perfect location - walk out the door and find eateries and bars. Its a short walk to circular quay and to the shopping precinct. The stff are competent and friendly . This is a 4 star boutique hotel so dont expect 5 star treatment - but if you enjoy the boutique experience this is where you will find it. Its funky and homely and we will make it a regular place to stay in when we need to b in sydney. One thing to note - there are quite a few stairs throughout the hotel and no elevator other than for luggage - so if u dont do stairs then ask for a ground floor room

Room Tip: We found the standard room a little too small - just enough room for the bed and desk - so if your...

newly branded mcgallery this boutique hotel is in an extremely good location, a boutique style of residence hotel with just 59 quirky rooms. our room was compact but well equipped and extremely comfortable. the bar and library area create a lounge style effect in amongst the reception which can be disconcerting for those used to the traditional hotel style of welcome. Whilst the team were a little laid back in greeting and explanation of the facilities i am sure that this will be addressed in the near future with the integration into the accor group. the hospitality and service provided to ourselves was very high, the assistance with late checkout, use of the hospitality showers and bar and lounge areas. i will return again to this hotel and i will recommend it to my clients, especially those staying for pre and post cruise holidays

Stayed here with my 9 yr old daughter - found it all good and particularly great location.
Just a short walk and you were under the harbour bridge/great local cafes, easy walk to train station -
I thought good value for money

Room Tip: Handy 7/11 type shop across the road for milk/coffee extra snacks etc.

Just loved the Harbour Rocks Hotel. Its a small boutique hotel (just hate huge multi storey hotels) within minutes easy walking to magnificent harbour views, the opera house, Sydney harbour bridge, the botanical gardens, lots of good restaurants. Also, easy walking to the city to check out the shops.

The hotel was clean, modern, the staff pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean, bright, airy and quiet.

There's a very good small French patisserie (not Guylian) just around the corner. We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed wonderful almond croissants and brioche for breakfast accompanied by great coffee.

We also loved the hustle and bustle of the harbour - the cruise ships arriving and departing, the buskers on the wharf who were very entertaining, and generally the festive atmosphere of people enjoying a day out.

We will definitely stay at the Harbour Rocks Hotel next time we're in Sydney.

We've just got home for a delightful and most rewarding stay at the HarbourRocks Hotel (HRH).

Though we live in Sydney, we had planned a harbour/cbd week-end celebration for both our birthdays as well as anniversary. Had not stayed in The Rocks in low level accommodation and close to the "vibes" and week-end markets, so did the usual TripAdviser search.......coming up trumps with the recently reconfigued, new Accor member re-opened HRH.

It's identified as a 'perfect location' on Harrington Street (almost on Argyle Centre), thus I booked on-line but got a call from them confirming a few Accor + things, expescially as to why the particular room request (.......quiet side of building, nice corner room). All was perfect - see below.

Booked in Saturday around 2pm, excellent receptionist (Alice), good the right room on the 2nd level, east side (over the Nurse's Walk alleyway), corner room, large newist and "perfect" vibes. We did local walks & tours, had dinner across the road (....though their in-house Scarlett's had excellent menu); plenty of people around the streets and alleyways, but no real noise nor overnight disruptions. Some morning announcements came from the large cruise (slightly smaller than the one it replaced ovenight). Breakfast was easy, either at HRH or on the streets, taking in items from coffee and croissants to full Ozzie brekky around the traps.

We could not fault the HRH nor its staff,. The building is a consolidtaion of houses and a purpose built 3 story main area - all fits perfectly around modern fittings and colours. They have an open bar/sitting area, elevated facing the alleyway - nice touch; the entry was quirky with old timber floor boards, planks even. They have a small bar/coffee foyer (and happy hour too).

We'll be back, will try for same room, same level (all was perfect, location and weather too).

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room or one not facing Harrington Street (west side, noise or sun).
