Lovely hotel in a great location with exceptional staff. I stayed here with my young son and although I would say the hotel is probably more ideal for adults, the staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was child friendly and memorable. We had dinner at the restaurant and the staff were very helpful in organising a meal that catered for a food allergy. We stayed during a week night. I am a light sleeper, and although the room was a little noisy with the lively Rocks area outside early on in the night, it was very quiet later when the bars closed. If you want a break from the 5 star 'boxed room' corporate hotels and wanting to stay in a small quality boutique hotel that reflects Sydney's Rocks environment, with friendly staff and service, this place is great.

Hi SkiSG11,

It was really pleasing to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. It was great to read your comment in regards to breaking the 5 star ‘boxed room’ many corporate hotels offer! We certainly are a little different at the Harbour Rocks Hotel. We hope this means you will be joining us again someday soon!

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay!

Sincerely,
Dylan Cole

If you are looking to spend a night or two in Sydney and want to be near the harbour, The Rocks and the Opera House then I would recommend the Harbour Rocks Hotel. The staff make your stay a delight from the moment you check in. They are warm, friendly and extremely professional. The rooms are stylish but very comfortable and the whole atmosphere is just relaxing. Breakfast in the restaurant was wonderfully fresh and again the staff were attentive and friendly.

We arrived during the middle of a festival in the Rocks precinct which saw thousands of people out and about. The pace outside was frenetic but when we stepped into the hotel it was like stepping into a sanctuary. We will definitely be back to stay.

Thanks for the recommendation and the 5 stars Indy!

Really pleasing to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. You certainly arrived on a busy day. Aroma festival has around 100,000 people come through The Rocks during that particular day. Lots of fun being out there but certainly nice to retreat to your own little sanctuary at the end of it.

We look forward to you returning!

Sincerely,
Dylan Cole

My husband and I stayed here in July arriving Friday and checking out Sunday. We made the booking online, and rates were very competitive for the area and the amenities of the hotel. We arrived at about 11am on the Friday and check in was 'frictionless', no fuss with pleasant, genuine staff interest. Dining options were explained to us and we booked in for breakfast on Sunday morning. We were able to access our room at this time, which was great. We changed and then headed out exploring on foot the wondrous surrounds. There was a food festival on, so had plenty to keep us interested, visited the information centre, and then continued to amble through the streets, taking in the architecture and imagining the scene as it was in the past. We visited many pubs, and had a drink at each one! Another advantage of staying in the Rocks, no one has to drive!! The hotel staff arranged for a taxi to pick us up that evening to attend the theatre, with no hint of being pressured. The room was clean and tidy with plenty of room, loved the couch for somewhere different to sit other than the usual bed. The bed was comfortable and the linen divine. The ambient temperature was fine for us, although there was a split system in the room if this wasn't. I was a little disappointed that I was unable to open the windows fully, but understand why. Our blind was unable to be lifted up out of the way, again a disappointment, as I love to have the view from outside overnight, and this was the weekend of the 'supermoon', so doubly so. The mechanism was broken so unable to be raised, we tried to manage something tempoary, but it didn't work out. I had read previous reviews that mentioned the noise can sometimes be an issue. Our room faced to the rear of the premises and the window overlooked Nurses Walk, and we had no noise whatsoever, and had our window opened all night. We did have a few people sitting in the library/lobby area that were drinking from the bar, but they weren't there long, and weren't making a huge lot of noise that we could hear either. Previous reviewers are correct in saying that there is no elevator, so those with mobility issues may have limitations on rooms suitable. There is a small mechanical 'dumb waiter' that staff use to bring up your cases. Breakfast was ok, not a huge choice, unusual that there was no muesli available, only cornflakes and nutrigrain. Also there was no wholegrain bread, only sour dough or white. Sunday our flight home wasn't until 8pm, and the hotel were happy to store our luggage and even offered us use of the shower room prior to our flight if we needed it. We loved our stay, and it is right in the centre of the Rocks, so close to EVERYTHING. Loved it and will definitely stay again.

If you don't mind a small bathroom, the Harbour Rocks is in a superb location and has the unique charms of a beautiful boutique hotel. Breakfast in their restaurant Stella is excellent, and dinner there was great as well. Very cool lobby bar that's not your typical lobby bar b
