“Worth Every Dollar Spent, Great Location, Great Stay”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

I stayed in this hotel on my 5 days tour to city of Sydney. As usual saw ratings on tripadvisor and booked 2 harbour facing rooms for 4 nights and I must say decision turned out to 100% correct.

The property is located at fantastic potts point location on 7 mins walk from Kings Cross famous for the night life. The view from harbour facing rooms were simply fantastic. Harbour Bridge, Opera House & Sydney downtown can be seen in one glance.

Rooms were relatively small, especially bathrooms but they were clean and well maintained. Staff was helpful. Kitchen was small but was well equipped with all necessary utensils. We were able prepare our morning tea coffee in room itself.

Easy access to public transport and woolworths supermarket is right across the street. This was very convenient as we could buy some snacks fruits. They also sell mymulti passes which was really helpful. There are many coffee shops and restaurants nearby.

I would definitely recommend this hotel as my experience was awesome.

Room Tip: Harbour facing room above 7th floor.

We go to Sydney a couple times a year from Adelaide. We stay in the Macleay at Potts Point. For us it is perfectly positioned in a leafy street. It is close to lots of restaurants, super market. and bottle shop. Just up the road is the Fountain and Kings Cross.
There a bus stois across the road which is about 15 minutes to Circular Quay via the City.
The Hotel has rooms overlooking the City, Bridge and Opera House. It has also rooms looking over the Harbour down to the Heads. The staff are very friendly and helpful

Spent two nights here over the weekend, found the staff nice and helpful from the front desk to the cleaning ladies. Excellent location with Kings X station in walking distance, Supermarket and some great cafes for breakfast were just over the road. The view from our room on level 9 was my main reason for booking and we weren't let down, it is stunning. The room itself let it down a little - it was clean but didn't feel particularly fresh. It was also fairly cold and there didn't seem to be any way of heating it up, plus the bathroom really needs a revamp. Unplugged the fridge because it was really noisy. However there is certainly a good argument that whilst in Sydney, a room is just a place to sleep rather than spend too much time and the location and helpfulness of staff are more important aspects.

Overall not bad for the money and i would stay here again, although I wouldn't go out of my way to.

It's always a mystery when booking hotels, despite reviews, however, we were really pleased with this choice. Really helpful and friendly staff, clean and bright room with lovely morning sunrise view over the water. Convenient quality supermarket close by, easy walk to Botanical Gardens, bus to and from city, restaurants and takeaways close by. Will recommend and use again.

Room Tip: Ask for room with harbour view.

We spent 13 nights at Macleay Hotel it we had a very good experience.
The hotel highlights are the locations, just a couple blocks away of the subway at Kings Cross and almost in front of the 311 bus which will lead you to Circulay Quay or Darlinghust on the opposite direction. In front of the hotel you have a very well assorted supermarket so you could buy your things there and place them into the mini fridge. A lot of cafes and fancy restaurants.
Don't miss Saturday and Sunday farmers markets and the Kings Cross Tourist Information Service.
We stayed on the fifth floor. Very good partial view of the city and bay. The room was nice, quiet, clean and the bed was comfy. It had a very small but usable kitchen. We didn't have the breakfast included so we cooked a lot so save money. Bathroom OK. No bathtub but we had great water pressure and had everything we expected. blow-dryer, soaps and shampoo.

Downsize from the experience. The keys to the bedrooms, the internet service and their shuttle reservation system.
2014 and they still use the metal key which includes a token you need to use on the elevator and you need to return them at the counter every time. So if you are ordering food you need to go down to pick them up your self.
The internet wifi service at full speed is billable at 70 dollars a week for up to 2 devices. otherwise you could use the free one for 40MG per day and 128kb of speed.it's nerve-racking; I have seen dial up going faster than this one. The workaround is using the one from the lobby with doesn't use your room as reference.
We scheduled and paid the shuttle to the airport, and they did't even bother to let us know it arrived mostly because it was in the hotel half a block away from it. So we had to walk with the luggage to the shuttle.
Very good experience from this apart hotel I truly recommend it.

This was our third stay at this hotel. We love the view of the city, the friendly staff and the great location. The bus stop and nearby grocery store are so convenient. We appreciated the helpfulness of the staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: We stayed on the seventh floor and had a great view.
