Stayed for 4 nights and upgraded to a harbour view. The balcony and the harbour view alone was worth every penny we paid for the room.It was a two bedroom apartment and everything was spot on.The room was very good in all departments,Clean, everything in the kitchen was excellent and every utensil was there. Two lovely bathrooms and the washer and dryer were perfect. The hotel is central for everything,Nightlife, walking into the city,Touring, boat trips. The hotel breakfast was superb. After our busy day we had a beautiful meal every evening on the ship in front of the hotel and then sat on our balcony with a drink and watched the wonderful view and the lit up city.
I could go on all night with my praise for this hotel and it would be the first thing i would book if i went back to Sydney.Don't go anywhere else

I booked the 2 Room apartment for a few days. I was happy with the room, although not new furniture, it was modern enough, importantly it was clean. The room had a small kitchenette (inc microwave, oven, dishwasher etc) and also a washing machine and dryer (free). There were 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 singles with tv) The balcony was facing away from the harbour - perfect to get the evening sun (4 chairs and table). Ideal for a family as eating out every day is expensive, furthermore "Market City" is within walking distance - where on the ground floor is a small supermarket to stock up the fridge (amazing fresh fruit n veg), next door sells delicious fresh fish. Staff friendly and professional. Furthermore, there is a lift taking you straight to Harbourside (shopping precinct and Darling Harbour) - Multi storey carpark - next door. Recommend for families or couples on a budget. I would stay again.

Sydney was to be our first stop from Melbourne for 5 days on our way up to Coffs Harbour. We booked well in advance and got a great deal called a summer package. If I had know what I was in for I would have rather paid the full rate and gone elsewhere. We are a family of 5 and had booked a two bedroom apartment. After several phone calls and emails I was assured that the apartment would cater for a family this size as their web site stated a two bedroom was configured for 4 people. After an 8 hour drive we arrived and had to wait twenty minutes to check in as there was only one person at the front desk. We were then advised to drive down to there secured carpark where our porter would collect our luggage. After waiting a further 15 minutes we made our way to our room and called the front desk. We then discovered that the sofa bed had not been made up which resulted in another call. We had to call room service again as the kitchen was only equiped for four people - not enough cutlery or chairs !. The term "Fully Equiped Apartment" had a lot to be desired as there was very little equipment in the kitchen to be able to throw something together for a meal. The doors on the cupboard in the kitchen, bathroom and the bedheads had stains of something which had driped- this gave me the impression that housekeeping had a lot to be desired. A number of floors had been updated and were being sold off. It seemed that their focus was on selling rather than looking after the paying customers.

Stayed in a 2 bed apartment, which was a good size. The location was perfect for a shopping weekend. Easy walk to Darling Harbour restaurants. Close to the monorail to access other areas of Sydney. The weather was warm in Sydney and the air con was up to the job. The view from our room was not great but then again we were not there for the view.

Having read the reviews in the pages here, I half expected to find a slightly tired hotel. I was right. The location and front line staff are great!!! But the program of refurbishment had clearly not reached our room. Though we did see evidence of one room being repainted - and to a decent standard. There seemed little point in making a fuss, even though we paid dearly for the peak holiday stay. Security is excellent, pool fine and roof top views stunning. Most requests for additional items in the apartment were pleasantly fulfilled, with the exception of coat hangers - only 2 per person... someone seems to be pinching them!? Cleanliness and room servicing is poor, and only every 3-4 days, not great for $1K a week!! Parking and internet access at the hotel is extrotionate, why in this day? Dont even think about using the minibar. WE had a good stay for 3 weeks, but its epensive, and still very tired in places.

Dear GJSturgess,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your review of the Grand Mercure Apartments One Darling Harbour.

The Apartments are currently going through a refurbishment including painting and maintenance.

I was most concerned to hear of your comments in relation to the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. I would like to offer my sincerest apologies that the cleanliness and room servicing, as well as supply of equipment and internet facilities in the lobby did not meet your expectations.

Whilst I cannot turn back the clock on your experience, we certainly value your patronage and would love to welcome you back when you are next traveling to Sydney so that we may have an opportunity to provide the service and standard in which we pride ourselves and one would expect from Grand Mercure Apartments.

Kind regards
Executive Office
