“Central and convenient hotel”
Reviewed 1 December 2013

Mercure hotel was located in a convenient location, just steps away from the Central station, where the airport train stops. We had a privilege room on the top floor and was undisturbed by any traffic outside. The rooms were an average size for 2 people, a nice touch with an in-room Nespresso machine. Breakfast spread was good, a pity the coffee machine ran out of coffee. It was also pretty busy during breakfast time on a weekend.

We stayed here for two nights to see Sydney after staying with Family in Dubbo for a few weeks.
The hotel was huge so got a little lost at first. The rooms were clean and comfortable and they gave us adjoining rooms as requested. Once we found our way around we quite enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly and suggested places to see even helped us to book a boat trip.

We spent two nights at the Mercure Hotel. We had a twin room - but both beds were small doubles so very spacious. Room was clean, well maintained and quiet. Couldn't hear any noise from above or below or outside. We were charged a special rate of A$20 each for breakfast and were able to fill up very nicely with a good choice of fruit, cereals and cooked food plus bread, toast and pastries. The only negative aspect was no free Wi-Fi - they charge A $30 for 24 hours. This is a shame because everywhere else we stayed on our travels (including cheap motels) all offered free Wi-Fi. The concierge was very helpful in recommending an excellent and very reasonably priced Thai restaurant across the road. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel has to be one of the best we have stayed in. We were able to have a smoking room which was good, and it was delightful. Spotlessly clean, nicely furnished and well serviced, with a fabulous view of the city.

The staff were all very helpful and friendly. One young man offered to mail our postcards for us as we were leaving (although they never arrived at their destination.).

The location was brilliant. We were right next door to the bus ticket office and a whole bank of bus stops. The train station was across the road in one direction and the post office in the other.
There were plenty of shops, restaurants and food places around so when we were just too tired to go to dinner we bought rolls and salads and ate in our room.

Apart from our missing postcards, our stay was perfect.

Room Tip: Smoking rooms are available here.

After experience in Mercure Welcome Melbourne, I thought Mercure Sydney would be similar to Mercure Welcome (Mercure Welcome was a little old). Mercure Sydney was just grand compared to Mercure Welcome and they're both sitting in the three star pile. Very good service and room. Gym wasn't bad and the pool was a little bit crowded. An overall perfect stay.

Mercure Sydney, located just in the middle of Sydney. Two main reasons to stay here; The Central station on the right and the 'food paradise' Paddy's Market/China town on the left. Both places could be reached within 10 minutes by foot and always crowded throughout the day. Just opt for the city view room to get a panoramic view of the city during day and night as well. McD and few Asian restaurant too just opposite the Hotel for easy supper. This hotel provides baby cot for our small one and its fold-able when not in use to increase the room space.

Room Tip: City view Superior room..Spacious and a family.
