Park Regis City Centre

Reviewed 10 August 2010

I Stayed at the Park Regis City Centre on the 10th August for 1 night. I stayed in a Park Suite room 1202, which everything I seen in the pictures on the website was exactly what I got and that was in a good way of course. Close to public transport, many places to eat and shops etc.
The Room was very modern, king size bed (which is 2 singles put together) but with saying that theres no gap in the middle. I loved the tinted mirror wall behind the bed. The Windows in the bedroom could not be opened though as there is another piece of glass with a border around it, so not sure why this is.
curtains within the room blocked most of the light out at night which is always a good thing, could hear the traffic quite a bit but thats like more hotels within the city.
Not much lighting must say, although there are 2 lamps in the bedroom and a light at the desk there isn't an actual light within the bedroom so felt kind of dark even during the day. Mirror near the Door was a nice touch, it's always a good thing to see before your heading out. Bathroom is small, but is very modern, Shower was nice and hot, There are a few scuff marks on the walls, and walls that appear to have been patched up then painted over.
Small bar fridge, coffee making facilites although Gloria Jeans is across the road.
Woolworths is just down the road as well which is always good if you've forgotten to bring something with you.
A bed head on the bed would of been nice also especially when your getting your freak on ...
Both Televisions worked, the Aircon/heating was hard to work out how to use the remote (maybe a card near by to show which buttons to push its hard especially when your not used to using them. I was located next to the Lift, so was a little bit annoying at times.
Lounge area was comfy so was the chair at the desk in the bedroom.
The Bed was also very comfortable
Was a good night stay, if you're looking for a decent hotel within the city, close to everything choose this one.
I had reed the reviews on here from other people and was cringing to what I had reed but staying here now changed the way I may have thought bout staying here.
Staff at reception where very nice also

Spent our last night in Sydney here and were not disappointed. Location and value for money are excellent. Reception staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Rooms are clean, well-decorated and spacious.

My significant other and myself stayed here towards the end of May 2010. No romantic or other special treat - it was just for weekend accommodation whilst attending a conference, so there were no great expectations.

We liked the location as it was pretty close to everything we needed: The conference venue, an easy walk to Chinatown for dining, the Galeries Victoria monorail station nearby for transport to and from some sightseeing and with the close proximity of Town Hall railway station a block or so away, rail transport from the airport was a breeze. The tariff, considering this is the middle of Sydney, was attractive also.

Those travellers who really do need room to swing a cat could possibly consider the room a little small but we're in central Sydney; space is at a premium. I believe this establishment has been has been around for about forty years and is starting to show it's age. For example, because of water pressure issues, some technique is needed if one is to enjoy a shower that is at an ambient temperature (No bathtub, so don't look forward to stretching out in a relaxing sea of warm water.).

The other age (The building, not me!) related issue is the air conditioning. The advertising says "air conditioning" and whilst there is apparently an ancient evaporative plant somewhere in the building, it is turned off for the winter months and warm air is pumped to the rooms. There is no individual temperature control other than to have it either off or on. We found those two conditions made the room either hot or hotter. The solution was to open the window, put up with the noise of the traffic and risk the rain coming in. If the marketing says "air conditioned" then one's expectation is that it's functioning.

Apart from the air-con gripe, Park Regis served our purpose. Clean secure efficiently maintained ensuite accommodation in central Sydney at a reasonable tariff and with courteous and helpful staff. How do I rate it? Somewhat better than three but under four however all things considered, I'd give it 4+ if it was genuinely air conditioned as advertised....

The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was great! Right in the heart of the city. The only complaint I have about this hotel is that the rooms (at least the one we had) was a little small. There was a Gloria Jeans and Mc Donald’s right next across the street. DON’T go to the little grocery mart!!! They will rip you off!!! Go to a grocery STORE instead. The hotel is very high, thirty five floors I believe. The roof top was beautiful! There was a pool on the roof. There is also a big laundry facility on the top floor. The Opera House is a little bit of a jaunt. If you’re a runner, it’s a great run! All uphill on the way back. Total, I would estimate about a mile to a mile and a half one way. The staff was accommodating, as we arrived at 8:30 a.m. and check in wasn’t until 3:00 pm, they were able to get us in our room at around 10:00 a.m.

Nice room with view over Hyde Park and down towards the "Cross" Noise did not worry us on 13th Floor. Great location.
Fantastic bed - the biggest and most comfortable of our trip. Excellent bathroom with all sundries.
Room needed another light at night - either center of room or another bedside lamp would have helped us oldies.
Look forward to our next visit to Park Regis City Centre.

We live in Sydney and wanted to stay in the city to watch the soccer world cup at Darling Harbour. Booked this hotel based on price and location, you can walk everywhere, it close to public transport. Room was clean and tidy, bed comfortable. We were on the 11th floor and there was some street noise, nothing unbearable, we always travel with earplugs so that was no problems. Rooftop pool and deck was great, excellent views. Staff were friendly. I could be picky and say the bathroom was slightly on the smaller size and the lighting was not that good for putting make up on, but for the price we paid and the location, to me those are not really big issues. Would definately stay again.

We stayed at the Park Regis for 5 nights as this was a recommendation from the friendly information desk at the Sydney Airport. The rooms were inexpensive for such a great location in the city. We walked everywhere, and there were plenty of places to eat and shop close by.

The rooms were clean and tidy, but nothing to write home about. We had a room with a king bed, and it was not the most comfortable I've experienced, or even close to it. The bed was actually separated into two mattresses with not much comfort towards the center if you know what I mean!

As for the noise, that was probably our biggest complaint. Although we were located on the 8th floor, you could hear every street noise from the city below. Friday and Saturday nights were the worst with a local pub located directly below.

As for the staff, they were the best part of this place! The manager Louis was great, and provided us with lots of good tips on where to explore the city, and places to visit. He was also helpful with any inquiries we needed regarding our room.

I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a great location in the city that is inexpensive....and best of all clean.
