“Quay Grand the best for location and staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2011

We have stayed at the Quay Grand four times in the last two years. The location is unbeatable and the staff have always been extremely helpful. The apartments are luxurious, have every facility you could want, fantastic beds, and lovely view whether it be harbourside or Botanical Gardens. Some electrical things showing wear and tear, but when we had a problem it was immediately fixed. From airport to hotel by train is so easy- arrive 50 metres from the hotel and no worries about traffic. Being right on Circular Quay, the ferries are at your doorstep to take you anywhere. The Opera House is within 50 metres, and it is right on the Botanical Gardens. Just an unbelievable location and fully equipped facility. It is beyond my usual budget but with last minute deal prices I indulge myself- nothing else compares in my eyes.

Based on reviews from Trip Advisor, I wanted to book our first night in Australia at the Quay Grand Suites Sydney. I had read that Circular Quay was a great location to see all the sights of Sydney and all the reviews raved about this hotel. Unfortunately, the price for the rooms at the Quay Grand Suites Sydney was more than our budget would permit so I booked at the Four Seasons. I happened to go to the Quay Grand Suites website and I noticed an Easter special. It was a fantastic discount so I immediately booked a room with a view of the Botanical Gardens and cancelled our Four Seasons reservations.

We arrived at the hotel at 9 AM. The reception desk was very friendly. It has the feeling of a boutique hotel. The hotel offered to store our luggage for us until we were able to check in. We had breakfast at the Rocks, walked around the Opera House and walked across the Harbour Bridge.

We checked into our room around 2PM. Our luggage was already delivered to our room. We had a beautiful view of the botanical gardens. I thought I would be disappointed because we didn't have a Harbour view, but that was not the case. After spending all day walking in downtown Sydney, it was very peaceful and relaxing to look out at greenery and the beautiful gardens. Our daughter lives in Coogee Beach, but as soon as we saw how spacious and beautiful our suite was, she decided to spend the night in our suite. We called the reception area and they made up the bed on the sofa bed. Everything was extremely clean, spacious and modern. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Australia for our first night. My husband wanted us to book the Quay Grand Suites for our last night in Sydney but unfortunately we already had reservations that couldn't be changed.

The next morning we woke up to the bright sunshine shining in our room. We went jogging in the Botanical Gardens. It was absolutely stunning to jog through the beautiful gardens. What a great way to spend our first night in Australia. Yes, we will be back and we hope to stay again at the Quay Grand Suites.

On our regular trips to Sydney we have almost always stayed at the Fraser Suites. In recent years, however, it has become a bit of a tradition to treat ouselves to a "5 Star" weekend at the Quay Grand for our anniversary.

The hotel has everything a Sydney visitor could wish for, and the location is as good as it gets. Until now, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stays, and have had no hesitation in recommending the hotel to friends.

This trip, however was dissapointing. The hotel has dropped markedly in standard and could not possibly continue to be regarded as "5 Star".

The coffee mugs were cracked and stained, and the room was desperately in need of a good clean. The bathroom walls were stained and dirty and dust and grime was accumulating around the toilet floor.

The Flat Screen TV screen in the living room was scratched and amost unviewable. No HD reception seemed to be available and I'm sure that even if it was, the TV would be incapable of showing it.

If Mirvac management think they can justify a tariff of around $600 for the view alone, and completely disregard the most important features of their flagship property, they will surely need to find innovative excuses for the lowering of the hotel's occupancy rates.

Not 5 Star anymore, Mirvac.

My friend and me stayed at this hotel 3 nights in April,2011. Everything there is excellent, the location is very comfortable and the view is very nice. It is really modern hotel in Sydney. Our room is large and clean and is decorated beautifully, suitably. The staff are so friendly and helpful. All time we stayed there we felt comfortable. Breakfast is very delicious. We will come back and stay at this hotel again.

We have stayed at this hotel on countless times and still view it to be the best in Sydney.

We regularily stayed here for the last 10 years and still believe it to be one of the best places to stay.

It not only provides 5-star rooms, however, 5-star location and views.

Once you stay here, you will be never want to stay anywhere else

Our family (3 in our 30s and our mom) stayed in a two bedroom suite overlooking the harbor.

We considered our trip to Australia a "once in a lifetime" opportunity. That mindset played in our decision to stay at this hotel. It's outrageously expensive... but if it's possibly the only time in your life to visit Sydney, make it count and stay here!

Regarding the accommodations, the space was laid out well in the two bedroom/two bathroom corner apartment. The internet was free if you signed up for the "mirvac club" which was an unexpected bonus. I thought the balcony was a little small-- perfect for two people but crowded with three or four. The bathroom fixtures seemed a little dated but definitely tolerable. The view is amazing. The location is amazing. The staff was very helpful.

Room Tip: Strongly suggest harbor view rooms...

great views and fantastic watching the ferrys and all the people going by. Stayed two nights and found it difficult to fault. It had everything we needed for a brilliant weekend away.
