Have been staying here since 1992. Still the best located apartment hotel in sydney. Kids love it, makes it easy for us, not brand new, but well maintained.

We booked through our travel agent a two bedroom unit for our Sydney holiday. We were already stoked when we discovered just how central the Quay West was and how close it was to fabulous restaurants, shops and transport. What we did not expect was the view that we saw as soon as we walked in: the most beautiful view of what must be one of the most beautiful harbours in the world. I cannot tell you how many photographs we took and how long we spent at night with lights in the unit off just admiring the scenery. The fact that the staff was also professional, courteous and helpful made our stay that much more enjoyable. The breakfast is good too and very good value. We are definitely coming back!
We spent an amazing night in a Quay West Suite last week and just loved it. We had a one bedroom city view booked but had an amazing view of the harbour and harbour bridge from the lounge room! We ate in Harrington's in the evening and had a great meal deal with wine and the quail was to die for. The breakfast buffet was fabulous, the presentation was the best I have seen and the staff were all wonderful. The 'Thank God it's Friday' deal was fantastic value!
The one bedroom apartment was perfect for us with our baby, it meant we could have some social time whilst knowing he was safely asleep next door. The space was great and even Though we had a city view we cold still see the harbour.
NOTE: the hotel is situated at the top of a hill so expect a steep walk up if you are coming from the city, there is an elevator on the street before but not clearly signposted.
Great pool up top with amazing views too!
There were a couple of issues which means I'm only giving this a 3 star instead of a 4. Bear in mind that the duty manager did all she could but it wasn't dealt with fast enough to make our stay better.
1. This hotel has put in place the most ridiculous policy regarding portacots. They'll give you one but will not provide a mattress for it! I was putting our 6 mth old to bed and realized that his bed was all soft and lumpy. They'd made it up with a folded heavy blanket as a mattress, far worse from a SIDS point of view! I had to really push hard to get this fixed, the staff were terrified about being found out by management if they gave us a mattress - ended up borrowing a whole cot from the shangri-la across the road! Finally on night 2 they sourced a mattress. What a palava! We stated at the Sofitel for the two previous nights with no problems with the portacot, this is the stupidest policy I've come across ever.
2. That night and the next morning we had tons of cigarette smoke come into our apartment, someone was smoking on a non-smoking floor.... Due to poor building work the doors to the apartments have about 2 cm gaps underneath them - I assume this is how it got in (particularly as the operations manager emailed us telling us they deal with this by offering towels to put up against the door). All I can say is YUCK when you have a baby in the room.
They did however sort this out ... Eventually... We suggested we would go visit the person smoking with our baby in tow. They quickly spoke to the person in question and also offered us an upgrade for the next night. BTW the 2 bed harbour view rooms are stunning!
Of note, people own and reside in some of the apartments, hence the hotel not being able to control things like smoking. They don't tell you this up front though. To be honest we normally wouldn't care but it's different when you have a baby, and when you've paid a fortune!
We would stay again but we would know what to ask for and how to deal with it better next time to get the result we wanted. We've rated the value as a 4 out of 5 because sydney is very expensive and you only get a hotel room for the same price as an apartment, however it is very expensive here still.
Ok, so I never ever review hotels but I had to become a member and review this place because it truly deserves the ratings it has!
We stayed in a one bedroom suite from the 28th May - 1st June. I booked online and in the "comments" section, I requested a high level room... It has 23 levels and we were on level 21! So definately request because it pays off and it was beautiful! We didn't have a harbour view room, stayed in a city view but we could still see the Harbour bridge and circular quay so we were absolutely stoked!
THE BED IS AMAZING! It is a King sized bed (not two single beds pushed together like alot of other places), I did not want to get out of bed in the morning which is saying alot! And the room has black out blinds so it was the most heavenly sleep! Definately worth it.
LOCATION : I read a couple of reviews and some people said that it "is a bit of a walk up a hill, and stairs"........and people complained about that??!??!?? It is nothing!! You literally get off the bus or train at circular quay, walk 200 metres up george street, take the first right and your there! The hill is nothing! Its like 10 seconds and then its over! and You only have to walk up the hill once! Because once you book in, the hotel has an internal lift which drops off at harrington street which is street level, so no more hard walking!! The location is perfect in relation to the city centre! We went and saw a concert at state theatre which is right in the middle and it was a 10 minute walk, everything is so so close, yet the hotel is the perfect distance from the hustle and bustle and is peaceful in the rocks.
I would definately recommend it to anyone wanting to relax and enjoy a quiet holiday, yet be super close to the harbour, trains, the city and chinese gardens if they needed to be!
OHH and the sauna pool and spa are beautiful! Especially at night! The lights are amazing.
We stayed here as a suprise for my 40th Birthday for one night. In a suite that slept all 5 of us. Double room, Twin Room and Sofa bed the lounge, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and tonnes of space and a view from the window of the Sydney harbour including Bridge and Opera House - expensive - but not for such a famous city and for 5! Plus free champagne in the room from the manager was a nice touch! Highly recommend!
