“Great Syndey Hotel”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

Considering Sydney is my home city and I have stayed in so many hotels down the years, I am now very much regretting the fact that I have not stayed at the Sir Stanford before.
The rooms are extremely roomy with a lovely aspect. The location is excellent, just a short stroll down the road to the Opera House and opposite the park and the staff were great. I even had breakfast in bed which i havent done in years and it was scrumptious. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone heading to Sydney. You will not regret it. I will be back.

Dear ChristianS76,

Sometimes the best kept secrets are so close and it turns out you discovered one at the Sir Stamford.
This Hotel is perfect for a night away in the city especially if you are attending a show, concert or simply to go shopping. The Opera House offers a great summer programme and our location is just perfect for this.
Next time you stay be sure to book one of our packages and enjoy High Tea in The Bar.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel.

Kind regards

My friend and I just had 3 wonderful nights in Sydney, this is a perfect hotel, the staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are spotless and our large king single beds were so comfortable. We had a view of the wharf from our window/balcony and could see a different cruise ship arrive each day.We loved the wombat in the lobby reading his little Christmas story and eating his Coco pops in the morning. The location is a stones throw from the major bus/train/ferry terminal at Circular Quay, its very very close to the Opera House, and the Opera Bar where we enjoyed a drink each day (and night), its an easy walk to the Rocks. It was just a very pleasant, easy place to stay at.Will def stay here again.

Room Tip: We had the king single superior room which was excellent

Derar KLM3199,

Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely feedback about your recent stay at the Hotel.

Our twin rooms (offering 2 double beds) are very spacious. Our rooms all offer something different whether you are situated on the lower floors or the higher floors, on the Macquarie Street side overlooking the Gardens or the Phillips Street side with glimpses of Circular Quay.
Being the Boutique Hotel that we are, our most important features are found inside the Hotel. We offer a home away from home with exceptional service from our staff. Our rooms are spacious and our Dining room and Bar offer you many options.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Hotel in the near future.

Kind regards

My wife, three adult children, and two son-in-laws stayed at the Sir Stamford last weekend for two nights. We initially planned to stay for one night and chose the Sir Stamford based on Trip Advisor ratings and the location in relation to the Sydney Opera House and Sydney bridge. As it turned out, our flight back to the US was cancelled, so we were forced to stay an extra night. We had already been impressed by the friendly helpful staff at the Sir Stamford (as a matter of fact, they had kept the restaurant open specifically for us as our flight had arrived later in the evening), but we came to appreciate them even more as we unraveled the complications associated with a cancelled flight for seven people. The Sir Stamford staff, were so supportive that it felt like they were helping a good friend or family member out. For example, there wasn't a table large enough for all us available in their bar/lunch area, so they opened a private room and served us there. The location of the Sir Stamford turned out to be every bit as perfect as we thought and the guest rooms, common areas, restaurants, and food exceeded our expectations for the price.

We had a lovely 2 night stay here. The hotel is well located, just 5 minutes walk from the bustle of Circular Quay and an easy 10 minute walk to The Rocks or the shopping in the city centre.
Our room was very spacious with a comfortable king bed, the bathroom had plenty of room for 2 with double sink and separate bath & shower. The hotel is in a heritage building and has been styled to reflect this with period furniture and paintings. We ate in both the bar and the restaurant and enjoyed both experiences. Perhaps the only downsides were that as our room faced the previously mentioned 'bustle of Circular Quay' there was some noise of traffic and that service in the bar was a little slow. All the staff we dealt with were lovely.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the Botanic Gardens for a little less traffic noise.

Excellent central location, we stayed 2 nights and found everything within easy walking distance. Rooms are very large and rather old fashioned but comfortable. Service was generally good but the woman staffing the breakfast dining was abrupt and unfriendly and the breakfast buffet limited and not in the league of the Westin or Hilton but at a similar price. The cost of wifi access is a disgrace, considering many back packer hostels advertise they offer free wifi you would wonder why hotels like the Stamford could not do the same.

We stayed 2 nights en route to New Zealand & 1 on the way back & love the understated elegance of The Sir Stamford, its excellent location about a 5-7 minute walk from the station at Circular Quay and the pleasantness of the staff. Think I'll mention Dimitri here, concierge for his helpfulness & customer friendly attitude. My only gripe is that in-room internet is chargeable whereas in lesser establishments it is mostly free. However you can get 30 minutes free wifi a day in the lobby which is enough, it is just the inconvenience of having to traipse down from your room to say check in for a flight. That won't put me off staying at Sir Stamford again though.

Thank you for your very kind words, following your recent stay, Dimitri is a great member of the team.

As we continue to review our internet services in the Hotel, we will continue to offer 30 minutes complimentary WIFI in the lobby. May I recommend a lovely glass of wine and a small bite from our Bar menu whilst you are checking in for your flight.

We hope to welcome you back to the Hotel in the future.

I recently booked 6 rooms for our annual group get away I would have to say that the Sir Stamford in Circular Quay Sydney was absolutely perfect . The service from booking through to our actual stay was faultless . Yukari was very helpful when I did our booking and made everything easy. The rooms were just gorgeous and the attention to detail amazing , the quality bedding and lovely furniture just finished our rooms off . The location was fantastic just a very short stroll to all the action in Circular Quay , breakfast was amazing and nothing was too much trouble . So all in all I would thoroughly recommend the Sir Stamford very memorable experience , thank you .

Dear Catherine W,

I am so glad the Yukari and the team were able to assist with your group getaway at the Hotel.
Our Hotel is just perfect for small groups wanting to enjoy a few days in the city, a cultural night at the Opera House or a few days of Golf at one of our many golf courses.
I hope that you enjoyed one of our fabulous High teas, served daily in The Bar. This is an experienced not to be missed. When you step into the Hotel you are stepping into Old World Charm at its best. For group getaways our team are more than happy to arrange gifts in rooms including personalised bathrobes.
Perhaps for your next group getaway you will consider one of our other Hotels in Brisbane, Adelaide or even Auckland.

We hope to welcome your group back to the Hotel, maybe next year for our New Years Eve Package, including a degustation dinner and the viewing of the fireworks from the rooftop of the Hotel.

Kind regards
