Great deal, very helpful and friendly staff, clean and well kept, awesome b/fast buffet, handy free valet parking, cannot get any closer to darling harbour and the newly renovated pools were awesome but....the 2 double beds killed us, we are a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys who shared a bed and the wife and i on the other bed, short sentence to summon the sleeping experience..canned sardines...though the beds and pillows were very comfy.

Room Tip: Pools, spa and gym are on level 5.

Stayed over Christmas for a couple of days in a star suite. On arrival we were meet by very friendly concierge staff who offered to store our bags while we checked in. But once we reached the lobby it was a mess the reception line was huge it took over 40 minutes to reach the front desk. On reaching the front we were met with a very less than welcoming staff. The young man on reception seemed like he didn't care and didn't want to be there he had a real attitude problem. I asked if I could speak with a manager as I really was not happy with waiting this long to check in. I was told they contact me. They never did. The room was very nice. Big TV's and the spa was great. blocked out windows was odd but had no view anyway. The room did have abit of dust and mould smell in the bathroom that the cleaners should do better in a hotel of this nature. The TV in the spa didn't work and the controller was missing - A handy man came by and fixed that. The room also didn't have a compendium which was strange as I thought you would cross promote the restaurants and bars in the casino. Had to call the operator for information they explained the different restaurants and bars but it was a real hassle. You really should have something in the rooms. We had dinner in Black and The Century both were very good and great service...And ive left the worst thing about this Hotel for last the wifi is a joke how can you charge for internet at $25 a day and provide such poor service and your business centre is hopeless. I ended up having to use the computer at the concierge desk as they seem like the only people who would help me. Overall I think the Management of this Hotel need a good kick along...

Room Tip: Spa Suites are very good maybe get a high floor.

If you like going to a casino you are in heaven. If you don't, you are in a great hotel with really good facilites and extremely well located to both Darling Harbour, Sydney city and their attractions. Booked for a couple of nights, The rooms were large and clean. Pillows in room left a bit to be desired but a simple phone call and a pillow order from the pillow menu, all was fixed. Plenty of choice for eating and drinking in the complex but 5 - 10 minutes walk and you are spoilt for choice. Staff were very helpful from start to finish. A great stay

What a fantastic Hotel, in Darling Harbour which is within walking distance of the opera House and Harbour Bridge. The view from our room was amazing the harbour and harbour bridge. The facilities were fantastic. Loved this hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a view of the harbour.. Breath taking

We booked a luxury three bedroom apartment at the residences at the Star. The views of the city skyline and sydney harbour bridge was amazing. The Apartments were spacious and well equipped. It was great to have all the entertainment facilities in the same complex. We also visited the new terrace bar lounge which was fantastic.

When I discovered that I would be staying at the Star during a work conference, I was excited at the opportunity of experiencing 5 star treatment that the hotel and casino pride themselves for.

Checking in at 10am, I was surprised to be waiting over 20 minutes. I attended, once I reached her, was not apologetic, but not rude either, just felt a little rushed. I was given the room key and sent on my way.

After spending a few minutes and what felt like a few miles trying to find the lifts, I found them and made my way to the room. The room was a large 3 bedroom suite, well furnished, and clean - there was just no jaw dropping wow factor that the Shangri-La or the Four Seasons excel in.

The beds were comfortable without being amazing (Sofitel style). The balcony was nice, but the view I had was not amazing.

All in all, I left (after another 20 minute wait to check out) a little disappointed that so much potential was not realised.

As the great Jesse Jackson once proclaimed: "So many bright stars, bright in life, burn out quickly."

From the outset Astral Tower appears to be all that of a Vegas - style casino hotel, but not long into our stay the cracks began to show.

Don't get me wrong - the hotel and the complex have some admirable qualities - fantastic dining options, a cracking gymnasium and a rooftop bar rammed with Sydney's social elite.

The cracks? Quite frankly the slowest elevator in history coupled with rank rotten music that echoes through your soul. The bouncers who refuse you to enter the hotel nightclub because you don't have enough women in your party (ironically we were out to meet women). The extortionate price for a room that was embarrasingly disproprtionate to the rest of the complex. The fact that free wifi or breakfast were out of the question.

Finally, Sydney is a beautiful city to explore and this hotel appears to be geared to the Chinese gambler insistent on spending the day in darkness barely cracking a smile. It didn't add up to me.
