“A gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

This was booked as a mystery deal on Last Minute.....and we were very happy with the hotel. Location is amazing, great views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House within 1 minutes walk. I arrived in Sydney very early to meet my boyfriend who had just finished his 14 hour night shift, we arrived early to leave our bags and see if we could get an early check in around lunch time and were very plesantly surprised when we could check in straight away at 930am!!

Hotel has a real boutique feel. The room was on the small side, but it's not like you spend much time in there. Very comfy bed. The only negative was the toilet - just like a plane toilet....very loud....you can hear your neighbours flushing their toilets.

Would love to stay here again and perhaps check out their menu. Very close to the Rocks Markets and a short walk to Circular Quay.

Booked this as a mystery Wotif hotel and was not disappointed. Location is amazing - walk to The Rocks, Pitt St Mall. Only issue is parking which other guests have mentioned but as long as you keep an eye on the meter you'll be fine! Room was clean, a bit on the small side though but was fine for 1 night. We ate lunch at the restaurant downstairs- food wasn't amazing but wasn't awful either. Sitting outside by the water was great though! Would stay here again.

We were taking our labradoodle puppies for an overnight stay in the Hickson Suite
After contacting the hotel 4 times prior to the date of arrival.....just to be sure !!!!!!
On arrival we were booked into the Hickson suite, a few minutes later we were told we'd have to move !!!!! After about an hour of absolute chaos we finally got a room.
Having said that we could not fault the hotel staff they were very friendly and VERY interested in the pups. It's a great area for walking and you see excellent examples of Sydney's past and present. The hotel is located at the side of Syney Harbour Bridge with Luna Park across the harbour and the Opera House within walking distance . Eat in or eat out the food in the area is great.
Just one warning when you flush the loo in your room ....stand back

This hotel has absolute water frontage, being a converted, very old wharf building that has been reborn,so the view is extremely waterfront with ferries passing by.The architects have done a good job in conversion but its definitely not five star with small bedrooms, exposed steel stress beams and ceilings showing original, very old planks. The staff are very accommodating and helpful as we had problems with the electrics.
The location is great, being in a quieter part of Sydney and right under the Harbour Bridge, and as said before ,the waterfront view is fantastic.Taxis run past all the time and there is a picturesque waterfront walk from the hotel, around the harbour front to the main city.
If your after luxury, its not here but if your into heritage, its definitely here.

Room Tip: Get a harbourfront room.

During our stay at this hotel we were told we would get our tariff refunded due to the poor quality of the room.My wife and I came to stay for the Vivid light festival and prior to leaving for the night set A/C to 18 when we got back room was boiling hot 28 degrees all efforts to fix this by house keeping failed and just on midnight they wanted to send us to another hotel, we were eventually moved to another room which when we woke up to have morning showers did not have any towels. These May not be big issues but when parting with $325 for

Pier One is a great hotel in an excellent spot in Sydney but do not be unrealistic in your expectations.

Staff- Very accommodating and friendly, no fault.
Rooms- Average, nothing spectacular but you don't pay all that money for the room. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. I liked the exposed beams in the room making reference to the history of the establishment.
Location- This is what you pay the high tariff for. Minutes from Circular Quay and literally right under the harbour bridge. Beautiful at night.

We stayed at Pier One to be in close proximity to the Vivid festival and the Sydney Biennale, it was a good choice but we probably wouldn't stay again. Pier One should be the choice for someone who isn't as local as us wanting a intense Sydney experience.

But we did love our stay and would recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Harbour view room would be best.
