The Sydney Boulevard Hotel

The Hotel is starting to look a little dated and showing it's age. Particularly the outside and some communal areas. But we couldn't fault the cleanliness of our room or the Hotel. Staff were friendly and efficient.

Room was big (1202) a twin room, facing the Harbour and Bridge. We could see a bit of the Opera House too. Pretty quiet, couldn't hear the traffic much from the freeway, but the sound proofing from next door is pretty thin and we could hear the people next doors cutlery as they ate dinner in the room. I think the noise travelled between the locked doors between rooms? Beds were okay, could have done with a topper to soften them up a bit. Biggest disappointment was the pillows, they were not very comfortable at all. :( Rooms were spotless, the cleaners are very good. A few little extra's like 'Hot Chocolate' sachets in winter in the tea set would be nice. No soaps in the bathroom, instead they go for the bottle with a pump, for shampoo/conditioner and hand soap near sink. Only problem with that is....I don't want to use shampoo for soap when I am in the shower! And so hard to squeeze anything out with wet hands!!! Bring back a couple of little soaps.

Cafe downstairs was perfect for brekky, great price deal. And pretty decent coffee too. Business Centre was handy, for checking the flights home. Never got up to the gym. The location of the hotel is handy for Hyde Park, the Museum area and we enjoyed the short walk to Woolloomooloo and Kings Cross/Potts Point area. Not far from Stanley Street eateries too.

Overall at $200+ a night, not bad value.

Room Tip: Definately pick a high floor Harbour/Bridge view.

Good price, old hotel which is starting to show its age (marks on wallpaper in room 811, wallpaper in 1st floor restaurant peeling off wall). Security access card didn't unlock bedroom door on 2 occasions despite providing access to lift & lighting/air conditioning in rooms-this means going from 8th floor back to reception to have card reprogrammed. Room air conditioner hard to set up. Staff forget to empty one or both bins on several occasions when tidying rooms. This room is right next to cleaner's store room so has quite a bit of noise coming through due to this. Meals very expensive. It also is next to William St so every yobbo, hoon & road rager can be heard at all hours. Free wifi is (deliberately?) very slow but quicker options are available at a cost. TV only has basic channels and no access to digital free to air channels (eg 7mate, Go, etc). Has access to a movie channel which is a service where movies are chargeable. Was asked by staff member if I had my card to use the lift (as if I was not classy enough to stay there). Was also questioned when taking complimentary newspapers, Receptionist wanted to know where I was taking them I told him to my room and he asked for my room number (having done this every day for the previous week of so at the time). Official rating is 4 stars, feels more like 3.5 at present but could be made 4 with an upgrade.

Room Tip: Harbour view rooms would be quieter and view would be nicer. Some apparently have free breakfast but...

The reviews of this place make it sound a bit better than expected. It's cheap and the rooms are fine, clean and basic. The walls are paper thin, so you can hear the people next door. If you are doing a single night, it's probably fine. However if you look around, for a similar price you can be a lot closer to the main attractions in Sydney. Its a good 15 minute walk from the centre of town, and there are fewer restaurants and bars around. Maybe consider something else!

We had high expectations for this hotel due to the photos and reviews, but frankly were quite disappointed. The room we were given had a terrible smell, and after a while we realized it was from the shower curtain. The knob that controls the water from the shower or tap for the bathtub fell out and couldn't work. The rest of the bathroom was clean.

The bed was also clean. The mattress seemed to be sunken down the middle and was a tad too soft for our liking. An additional foldable luggage rack was provided in the wardrobe, which was useful.

Service was good though, staff were friendly and helpful, especially Armando at the reception and Deejay at the conceirge.

Really impressed with the service, upon arrival Roberto served us and immediately told up he was upgrading us free of charge! Breakfast was not included however he did provide us with a discounted breakfast voucher for the following day.
Our room was not ready however they took our bags and said they would call us when the room is ready.
Room was very nice bed comfortable and a nice view.
Bathroom was out-dated and they need to install a exhaust fan into the bath room.
Breakfast was just ok, dining room is very dated and needs an upgrade, the coffee was way to hot and tasted ordinary.
If I say here again ill skip breakfast other than that the stay was enjoyable.

Room Tip: You would want to be above the 6th floor for a good view

Had a superb stay with welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. Arrived early in morn and our gear was happily looked after till our room was ready. The Emerald Harbour Suite was very spacious with extremely comfortable king size bed and stunning views of Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Also very clean and tidy and well set out . We used both the restaurant and room service for dinning and was totally Delish !!! Handy to the CBD and with Bus stop right outside and Taxis, when we had to go further a field it was no issue. Beautiful 10/15 min walk to Opera House etc through lovely park and gardens. Our flights out were later in evening so on checkout once again our luggage was stored for us until required. Truly Professional service that made our stay in Sydney magnificent. Highly Recommend :-)
