Spent a week working in Sydney and stayed at the Westin. Excellent check in and great room on the 20th floor. Very spacious with great amenities and a Bose sound system. Bathroom is fantastic and the water pressure on the 20th floor was marvellous.
Met Charlotte who works at the hotel and what a delightful ambassador she is for the Westin.
Can only recommend very highly.

Room Tip: Don't think there is a bad one.

We stayed at The Westin Sydney during one of their busiest periods for 12 nights (Dec 22 - Jan 3). The staff were friendly and attentive, and the hotel's location was centrally located. We opted for a tower room, and we were given a superior room on the 24th floor. While the view of the clock tower and a decorative Christmas tree was wonderful, the noise that penetrated the room from the hustle and bustle of the streets was not. The Ivy Club Pool's music was beyond ridiculous - there was music coming in to the room every single night of our stay. While we were initially very forgiving, acknowledging that it is the silly season after all, the fact that it happened EVERY NIGHT and did not stop until at least 3am or 4am quickly diminished the quality of our stay. The Westin staff were accommodating whenever we had to call the front desk at around 2am, and they quickly assured us that they would call the club to request for the music to be turned down a notch. However, being a light sleeper, my fiancé and I still had to adapt to the very audible noise coming in to the room. Every night, we slept at around 3am and woke around midday.

The room was very clean and housekeeping did a fantastic job servicing the room. The modern bathroom was marble all throughout and the tub and rain shower were pure bliss.

One thing that really irritated me was the fact that there was no relaxation pool. There is an unattractive gym pool located light years away if you are in the tower rooms, and it was difficult to get to as you have to go through Goodlife gym and a million staircases. The Sydney weather would have been perfect for lounging by a pool and relaxing with a book and a cocktail.

I have never stayed at a 5 star hotel with no relaxation pool. It was a good stay, but there are other Sydney 5 star hotels that offer better value for money.

Stayed at The Westin in Pitt St just a month ago and once again it delivered and remains my preferred accommodation for visits to Sydney. It is reliably excellent across all of the important measures - service, quality of room, divinely comfortable bed, beautiful bathrooms, excellent breakfast.... and location, location, location.

I think it's very hard to find a hotel in Sydney that matches for the price. My preferred Sydney Hotel for many years and it still remains that way.

Room Tip: Book a Tower room if you can. They're a little larger and add to the comfort factor.

I have not previously been 'wowed' by Westin in general but chose to book this particular Westin in Sydney for it's location and reasonable prices (even over xmas). I was very pleasantly surprised with most of my experience. The location was indeed perfect - walking distance to a good number of sights in Sydney and the Circular Quay area.

The check-in process was seamless even though we checked in much earlier than the standard check in time. This did not seem to ruffle any feathers. The service throughout my stay (6 days) exceeded my expectations, in fact.

We decided, upon arrival, to purchase the package which allowed for breakfast in Mosaic each morning. This was one of the best decisions we made for the entirety of the trip. The morning buffet was, by all standards, impressive. The selections were quite attractive, healthy and plentiful. I would also use the word imaginative as there were some fabulous exotic morning elixirs and juices available.

The one very annoying part of the trip was when you ordered any other type of drink at breakfast. For example, I ordered a soda one morning and was charged an outrageous $6.50. When you are already paying $40 PP each morning, this is ridiculous! That was the singular complaint i have about the hotel.

The room was lovely with a great location overlooking Martin Place Square. The bathtub (which is a favorite past time of mine) was deep, comfortable and relaxing (if a bit awkward to step into) and the rain shower head in the stall shower was divine. The bathroom was ample in size, well-lit, and pristine in appearance.

All in all, I would recommend this particular Westin over any other in the chain, truthfully. You will be pleased with the attention to detail, the charm of the hotel itself, the convenient location and the solid level of service provided.

I stayed in this hotel for just one night in July - nice large rooms, super quiet. Service was good, if not a little stand-offish.
Above average hotel in great location, excellent for exploring Sydney's shopping options.
Mini Bar selection was good, well designed bathroom.
Had full breakfast - fantastic selection and healthy options.

Room Tip: Tower is great - but potentially be able to see right into surrounding office.

The hotel is located in a historic building on the pedestrian only Martin Place and is very grand from the outside. The lobby is equally grand but the rooms (at least the one we had) don't live up to the lofty expectations. They are "contemporary" rather than modern (our preference) or classic. You can't open the windows and there are no balconies. The bath is nice and features a window wall so you can see the outside world while taking a bath. The experience is marred by Westin's miserly approach. Wireless internet will set you back A$28 per day! Come on folks, its 2014. This is like charging for water. No bar soap provided - the maid told us the entire hotel was out of stock and they weren't sure when this precious luxury would be available. The gym is great and the business center provides free internet connected PCs (although there are only 3 which means they're often not available). The pool is a joke - indoors, small and dingy. Nothing horribly wrong but we expect more from a hotel of this level (and these prices).

1. Great and friendly staff
2. Awesome location. Walking distance to all the hotspots + a grocery store 1 minute away (I like to buy water and wine from outside the hotels I stay in so I don't pay the 1000% markup)
3. Beautiful on the outside and inside
4. I'm pretty sure I did not get an upgrade but my standard room was large and the bathroom large and beautiful with separate areas for a rain shower, toilet, and tub

Note: I used points (totally worth it) and I did not try the bar or restaurant

Room Tip: There really are no rooms with great views since the hotel is right in the middle of Sydney surround...
