Stayed at the York for NYE 2010. Wasn't sure about the serviced apartment style but finding a reasonably priced room is quite difficult in Sydney for the New Year.

Check-in was simple. Stayed on a 7th floor studio. The room was quite spacious and clean. It had a balcony with a sitting table but we only had a view of the office building in front of us. Left the balcony door open once or twice to turn the A/C off - there is a lot of road noise. We found the kitchen fully equipped and functional, we had breakfast in the room every morning after stocking up at a nearby supermarket. There is no divide between the kitchen and the bedroom so the noise of the fridge compressor was noticeable at night. The bathroom was also large and functional. In general, the room was comfortable for a 5 night stay (and I am fairly picky). It is listed as 4 star (probably by Aussie standards) yet it would be 3 star in most places. Some aspects of the room could be updated (closets, washer/ dryer, radio) but none were any major issue.

Location is a major plus. If you don't mind walking you can get to most of the tourist sites in 10-15 minutes. Walked to Darling Harbour for a NYE cruise with the wife in heels with no issue. Circular Quay, the Rocks, the Opera house and shopping on George and Pitt street are also short walks.

There is no hotel restaurant/ bar but it wasn't an issue. The Japanese restaurant in the same building was good quality an price. Loads of eating choices within a short walk. There is a small gym and pool area was small but well done, although it doesn't get sunlight all through the day.

Good base to get and see wonderful Sydney at a decent price.

Stay here every month as it is close to the Sydney Office. I prefer the space of an apartment to a Hotel room, I love the fully equiped kitchen, I am able to prepare breakfast and dinner, rather than eat out. My only complaint is the noise of the traffic. If you are a light sleeper, this would not be the place for you.

We stayed for 3 nights in one of the refurbished 2 beds - very spacious for 4 adults and 1 baby. Great location - obviously some traffic noise as it's in the CBD. Found the facilities excellent and very clean - staff were friendly and helpful. Also found the onsite parking very convenient. We had no complaints. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

We arrived from our long flight from LAX and what seemed like an even longer ride from the airport :) Our beautiful room was ready. The York is across the street from the Wynward metro stop so you can take the train very easily from the airport. We did not know how close it was so we took a taxi from the airport, but used the metro to go back to the airport.
There is a Coles grocery in the metro station so you can pick up some breakfast items, water, snacks, etc. The Queen Victoria Building (QVB) is around the corner and there is other great shopping around the hotel.
You can also catch the free bus 555 to ride to Circular Quay to explore Sydney.
The staff was very friendly and we had no issues
We have breakfast at the Travelodge next door on the first day and it was pretty good, but cost $25 for buffet and there's not much on there. The rest of the time we prepared breakfast in our room. We also had takeout from the noodle place right next to the hotel and it was good.

Arrived at 2pm and given a warm welcome. Got to the room (909) which was very well equipped but had old style wiring and old bathroom, there was also a very 'fusty' smell. I went straight down and told them i would like another room, afterall i had paid hard earned money and wanted it to be right!
I was moved without a fuss into room 608........WOW!!! Very trendy orange decor, new washining machine in the tredy new bathroom and with a massive balcony you cantgo wrong! Yeah its noisey but your in the CBD and not the countryside. The swimming pool although small is on this level too which was very handy after walking around all day.

Theres a starbucks 4 mins down the road, Wynyard tube 5mins, sydney harbour bridge and opera house 15mins walk - fantastic.

Defo staying here again when we go back, any questions just email me.

Thank you The York!!

For 4 old college friends exploring Sydney and Australia for the first time, we could not have had a better location. The hotel was within walking distance of so much stuff, and the 2 bedroom unit we had that came with a pullout couch, full kitcken, etc was perfect. The staff, housekeeping, etc were very attentive, and it didnt cost a fortune. Good choice

We stayed here in November 2010, The apartment was not what I expected. It is owned by a third party and leased out to The York by Swiss-Belhotel who in turn rent it out to unsuspecting customers. There were locked cupboards in the apartment were the owners kept their personal belongings. The apartment was in need of updating, it was not the high end luxury I was expecting. The furnishing was quirky and not very comfortable, not like in the photos on their web site!
The air conditioning broke down and took two days to repair. A sleepless night ensued as we had to have the windows open and the road noise was terrible.
We paid extra for harbour views, and quite frankly it was not worth it, you can barely see any of the harbour, just about a glimpse of the bay. The balcony was covered in plants which restricted what little view we did have. We could not use the balcony due to the road noise, so don't pay extra for that either.
The staff were helpful and attentive.
