It is wrong to think of Sydney as Bridge, Opera House and moden skyscrapers. There are a few grand buildings form the earlier years of its development form a small foreign settlement. the cathedral set inland behind the Botanic gardens and on the eastern edge of the CBD is a grand reminder of that period when Sydney was growing form penal colony to commercial centre. It is very traditional in European style and although not as magnificent as many European cathedrals it has a striking pose and worth a visit.
