“Classy hotel in a great location”
Reviewed 9 July 2014

I stayed at The Grace Hotel for three nights. The first impression you get is the lobby with its beautifully restored Art Deco features. This lends an aura of old-world charm which is carried on throughout the hotel. The check-in procedure was quick and efficient.
Our room was a reasonable size, with a king-sized bed. The decor is quiet, inoffensive hotel-style decor, but looks quite fresh. The bathroom was large, with a shower but no bath. The lack of bath doesn't bother me really, and the shower was incredibly forceful, which is great on a cold Sydney morning. The bed was beautifully comfortable - soft but supportive.
The Grace is located a couple of minutes' walk away from Wynyard Station, and a few minutes' walk to Pitt Street Mall and the Queen Victoria Building. It's still a comfortable walk to Circular Quay and the Opera House. Darling Harbour is a similar walk in the opposite direction. The location is pretty central to what most people want if they're staying in Sydney.
Housed within the hotel is an Irish pub (I can't remember the name of it but you can't miss it), where they sell a great pint of Guinness at a reasonable price. The food looked interesting and affordable.
During the week you're spoilt for choice regarding coffee shops nearby, but they seemed to disappear at the weekend. A short stroll to Pitt Street Mall soon solved the caffeine cravings, though. There are also a number of fabulous looking pubs around The Grace which were open every night.
The Grace provides a buffet breakfast, which is quite pricey unless you book it the night before. It sounded fabulous but I didn't go for it this time. Maybe next time....
The Grace is a brilliant place to stay when visiting Sydney. It's classy, welcoming and comfortable and it's also in a great location.

Room Tip: There aren't really any views to be had because it's inner city, but if you like to see the...

Room clean, bed comfortable. Yes, it is a bit dated, but a good nights sleep is the most important thing to me.

The disappointing thing about this hotel for me was the food - I had both room service (chips tasted of old oil, calamari far too over cooked, burnt taste) and the breakfast. The breakfast was just very old school, and focus didn't appear to be on quality ingredients. Really disappointed with the food for a 4 star hotel, in this very competitive market.

But I slept well. And based on that, I would stay again. But not eat there.

Beautiful Art Deco building. Great location.

We spent only one night here at the end of June ... we had earlier in the year booked tickets for a show at the State Theatre and towards the date decided to spend the night in a CBD hotel and we couldn't have made a better choice.

As the night was now to also be a celebration we chose the "Grace Romance Getaway" package to add that 'little something' to the evening.

We knew that there was only limited parking but arriving at 3.00 pm (our stated check in time) our car was soon taken away by the attendant as we took our luggage (including a large bouquet of flowers) up in the lift to the lobby where we were met by a porter insisting that a large vase would also be delivered to our room.

We had a very friendly and efficient check-in and were sent off to our room with luggage to follow. It was soon delivered along with the vase :-) The sparkling wine and truffle chocolates took a little longer but with such a lovely location, we just unpacked all we needed for our overnight stay and headed out to King St Wharf for cocktails and a pre-theatre pizza.

The hotel is warm and has a lovely art deco feel; our room was large with a very comfortable bed and as it faced inwards was away from the traffic and lovely and quiet. For some reason our keys would not work on the top terrace so were unable to check out the pool area, but didn't really have time anyway to laze around.

It was lovely to be able to walk to the State Theatre and then stop off at a bar on the way back for a final cocktail.

The buffet breakfast the next morning had plenty of good choices although I would have liked less sweetened juices on offer. The coffee was good (once you got the hang of their machine) and the staff were friendly and efficient.

With a late 2.00 pm check out as part of our package, we had the luxury of walking around the city after breakfast and, in particular the QVB, the next morning.

Would we recommend the hotel and return? Absolutely.

Fantastic place to relax and unwind. If you are going to spend the money then I recommend staying here. Great hotel with great staff. Rooms have been renovated and decors are different throughout. Located in proximity of Sydney CBD allowing walking distance to shops and trains, buses. Highly recommended.

Stayed 2 nights awesome rooms great beds & the breakfast buffet excellent value Would stay again.
Good service staff great.A easy location for getting about Sydney only one small thing the in-house movies a little expensive especially as the tv is not set to the correct aspect ratio for full / wide screen viewing & the fridge is a little small as it was packed with mini bar no room forpersonal treats that one may bring along.

I just stayed three nights at this lovely venue, position is perfect and affordable and it is just beautiful, room was comfortable and the staff fantastic. My only issue is no free Wi-Fi, I think it is sign of the times, but I think it is a must these days. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Nice hotel with a great history, A good location to everything within the CBD. Rooms are very clean & tidy which is good to see. Hotel staff where always friendly & helpful. Basic gym on lvl 12 but good equipment & a heated lap pool.
Breakfast available at Grace Brasserie lvl 2 well catered for. Its a pity they only do Breakfast & Lunch, you can eat dinner at PJ OBrien which charge back to your room. PJ OBrien do make a great pub meal but very busy.
I got a room with a view of some parts of the city which is great but there can be a little bit noisy, but not always. The advertise some family saver deals which are well priced. I would come back again.
Im not sure there was a spa thats why I gave an average score.

Room Tip: My room card kept failing to open the door, try & keep it away from your mobile phone it wipes t...
