“old world charm and courtesy”
Reviewed 10 May 2014

The location of this charming little hotel (22 rooms) is deceptive, being so close to Sydney's red-light district and several backpackers hostels. It is actually found in a leafy, quiet street, full of similar low-rise buildings, and within a convenient walking distance of the Botanical Gardens, Opera House etc.
The staff are welcoming, even before arrival, ringing to check our approximate arrival time.Nothing was too much trouble for any of them, and all done with a breezy cheerfulness. The rooms are clean and comfortable - the bathrooms may be small, but adequate.
Breakfast, the only meal offered, is situated in a delightful covered courtyard with the pleasant sound of an indoor water feature. No cooked food, but everything else in abundance.
There are local restaurants aplenty, and at no time did we feel at risk in wlking back from these, or the convenient Kings Cross station, late at night.

I found this hotel in an excellent location, beautiful old world charm, very good value for money which includes continental breakfast served in a gorgeous little courtyard. Easy walk to everything. Very clean and comfortable. The Managers, Lahnee and Pablo are just amazing, couldn't be more friendly or helpful. I would recommend any of my family or friends to stay here.

Stayed for one nice before flew back to the UK and it was very pleasant. The hotel is just down the road from Kings Cross station so good tranport links particulaly down to Bondi, but still a few blocks back from the seedy part so pretty quite. The hotel was more individaul than standard buget types but my ground floor room by the courtyard was very nice spacious with a high ceiling, the bathroom was fine and had very good water pressure. The breakfast was simple conitnental style with ceral, jucie pastries.
The recpetion staff were very helpful and friendly

The place is not fancy--but it is clean and the staff personable. The breakfast in the morning was fresh and good!! The location is within walking distance of many of the sites tourists want to see and visit. We would recommend it. We enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is near what I would call the 'red-light area' - within walking distance, certainly. It is actually more of a backpackers area, and we thought it would be noisy, but it was very quiet. The street is leafy and calm. Hotel is a lovely old victorian house (2 actually) and high-ceilinged, so cool. We were upgraded to a better room than the budget-one we'd booked; it overlooked the courtyard/breakfast conservatory. Thankfully they turn the water-feature off at night, as we had the window open.
Breakfast - plentiful and good value. Bread, jam, cereals, juice coffee etc.

Room Tip: Pay a bit more if you can - we were shown the 'budget' room we'd booked, and it had very...

We stayed here early March 2014 on our first trip to Sydney. Being from England we wanted a smaller place with some character. We were made very welcome on arrival. We had 3 nights here the first week in Sydney and returned a week later for a further 3 nights after visitng relatives 30 miles away for a long weekend. Rooms have their individual charm. On our first stay we had the first floor balcony room with a four poster bed overlooking the tree lined street at the front. The manager had kindly upgraded our room. The second week a rear smaller room at the back through the conservatory breakfast area. Both rooms had all the facilities including a room safe with no fee. Breakfast was included and provided cereals, fruit and hot croisants and gave us a healthy start to the day. Friendly staff and a manager who went out of their way to help and assist throughout. They even let us leave our large baggage with them while we visited our relatives for the long weekend. If you are looking for a small well run B&B with good access to the rail station this place is for you. It is on the lower quieter part of the street before the busier part higher up near Kings Cross station. Nice walk into the harbour area via the Botanical Gardens takes 30 minutes, the train at a low cost takes 15 minutes and they always seem to be on time unlike in England. We would use again as a well kept smaller B&B in a great location.

Room Tip: Every one has its own charm - suggest you contact the manager directly prior to your visit to discus...

We stayed here at the end of March to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary - it was overpriced compared to the other hotels we had stayed in and although we originally booked 4 nights we left after one night as we were not happy with our room as it was dirty and we had very little sleep due to noise.
Breakfast was ok however there were not enough tables and chairs for all the guests so we had to wait in the lounge until someone had finished.
