Crashed on the couch of a friend who lived across from Bondi Beach. Went out and sat on the sand at sunrise. Saw local Aussies head out to swim in the sea while the waves came crashing in, birds floating on the breeze. I know I have to go back again someday. It was sensual, spiritual and magical at the same time. Aussies are so blessed, and I`m so jealous!

There is nothing for Tourists but a heaven for local surfers for its high tides. Missed the coastal walkway. Also, expensive cafes and restaurants. Bit far from the city. Manly is much better. We went in a plesant evening time , hardly few visitors except the regular surfers and the group of lil buys getting trained by a trainer. Luckily carried myself some snacks and fruits.

Sure it was clean with nice golden sand, but given its reputation, a little disappointing. Smaller than I expected and for surfing, not a patch on Ipanema in Rio. Manly on the north side of the harbour is nicer if you only have time for one and the ferry trip to Manly nicer than the bus to Bondi if you are relying on public transport.

If you can only get to one beach while in Sydney then give the overly hyped Bondi Beach a miss and take the ferry over to Manly Beach instead. Bondi beachfront does not have much to offer; shops, restaurants, grass, shade, etc, etc are all quite poor. The only things going for Bondi is the beach itself and the Tamarama Costal Walk. Even getting there by public transport requires a train/bus combination. Not worth the time and effort involved unless you feel the need to impress friends and family back home.

We walked the coastal path and found it exhilarating. I must say the 'Sculptures by the Sea' event added immensely to our experience. However, that apart it is just a fantastic place to be.

I have added some photographs.
