We chose the Manor House basically on Tripadvisor comments and we were not disappointed. This is an old historic building converted into a hotel yet it still retains the charm of colonial Australia. The rooms are spacious and furnished with some of the best period furniture that I've seen in any establishment. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom big enough for two. The continental breakfast offered was adequate with quite a variety to choose from. The staff were very helpful in answering all our dumb questions on how to get into the city or the SCG and where to eat. Good customer service is so hard to find these days but the Manor House management have it down to a fine art.
Although on busy Flinders Street we heard no loud traffic noise at all. The hotel is located just metres away from bus stops and there are many restaurants and pubs to choose from just a few minutes walk away. For what we wanted - a place near the SCG and the city the Manor House filled the bill. I would not hesitate in staying there again should we ever go back to Sydney.More
