This is a heritage property that was The Lord Mayors residence in 1850. It has loads of character and although on a busy main Street was quiet at night.
The room had lovely high decorated plaster ceilings and antique furnishings. It was fairly roomy for a boutique hotel room.
There was a pleasant large TV room with signed photos of all the celebrities who had stayed in the past.
I would totally miss the breakfast, plastic cheese and tinned fruit, not appetising, but plenty of cafes a short walk away.
The bed was comfortable with not too hard mattress or pillows.
Staff were helpful and obliging.
I walked a good brisk 10minutes to the Garvan institute and there was a great cafe on the corner of Victoria and Burton street "Forte" where you can get breakfast and coffee before attending your conference. This cafe catered for the conference I attended and the homemade food was terrific every day.
It was a good place to stay away from home as I was away from my family and I felt very safe.

We enjoyed our stay at the Manor House, its a little way out of the centre of town but the 373 stops right outside on the return journey and we did walk it one day. Plenty of restaurants close by, nice breakfast and pleasant surroundings in the historic building. The room was ok, (ground) and comfortable. We would stay again.

Nice hotel, nicely decorated, friendly staff. Not the best location but we enjoyed our one night stay. Welcoming staff who allowed an early room. The breakfast was basic but could have been made much more appealing

negative would be the breakfast and location

Manor House was a beautiful place to stay. Character aplenty. Surprisingly quiet. Stayed in the. King Room on ground floor. Great ambience. Central to SCG, Fox Studios, Randwick Racecourse, Centennial Park etc and readily walkable to central Sydney though taxi is so much easier. Restaurants aplenty within a few minutes easy walk around Surry Hills. More extroverted flamboyance for Mardi Gras tragics can be traced just up the road at Oxford Street. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A leisurely stroll found us exploring some wonderful places up Oxford Street through Paddington - make sure to check the old Reservoir, past Victoria Barracks and environs and returned via Centennial Park proving to be a great eye opener.
Only negatives are:- pillows on bed were quite large and thereby uncomfortable - a flatter variety would be better and if someone wants bigger they can use two or more. We ended up grabbing the sofa cushions and made do with them. There is limited on site parking in a small driveway at $25/night - we elected to park in street in front of Manor House but it is a clearway from 6am weekdays so beware. Other disappointment is the breakfast offering but with some pretty quaint and well stocked cafes within a few hundred metres it is worth the walk for a decent feed. Overall we found the place to be a real oasis in a fairly busy spot. Would stay again.

Room Tip: King Room was large and included spa bath. I think it is one of the biggest in the place.

We chose the Manor House basically on Tripadvisor comments and we were not disappointed. This is an old historic building converted into a hotel yet it still retains the charm of colonial Australia. The rooms are spacious and furnished with some of the best period furniture that I've seen in any establishment. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom big enough for two. The continental breakfast offered was adequate with quite a variety to choose from. The staff were very helpful in answering all our dumb questions on how to get into the city or the SCG and where to eat. Good customer service is so hard to find these days but the Manor House management have it down to a fine art.

Although on busy Flinders Street we heard no loud traffic noise at all. The hotel is located just metres away from bus stops and there are many restaurants and pubs to choose from just a few minutes walk away. For what we wanted - a place near the SCG and the city the Manor House filled the bill. I would not hesitate in staying there again should we ever go back to Sydney.

My wife and I stayed here and found the staff very helpful and obliging.
The room was well appointed and comfortable.
At atmosphere was relaxed, friendly and inviting – a welcome change from the larger hotel chains.
A good selection of wines are avalable on site - with local bottle shops and restaurants only 2 minutes walk.
We will be staying there again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a nice Sydney experience.

Room Tip: All the rooms are well appointed and quiet even though you are right on Flinders Street. Off street...

An great hotel with very helpful and friendly staff, the breakfast is adequate and not all the rooms have safes in, so specify if you need one.
Great position for buses, train station and Sydney Cricket Ground.
We had a great pizza delivered to the hotel one evening as no restaurant, price list is in the room.
Would we stay again? most definitely :)
