We took the ferry ride over to Fort Denison and would recommend this trip for families & couples, the ferry ride takes approximately 20 minutes and is a lovely scenic trip.
Fort Denison itself is much smaller than we expected, we opted to just wander around at our own pace rather than do a guided tour however we didn't realise at the time you are unable to access all areas unless on a guided tour. It's a very interesting place and doesn't take much time at all, book in for a guided tour to make the most of it.
One tip, when you are ready to return the ferry doesn't stop on the way back unless there are people waiting on the little jetty. Afternoon trip is best you & can be there for the 1pm time check firing of the cannon. We didn't eat at the restaurant/café as we had read more negative reviews than positive so cannot comment on the food/service.
Disabled access & access with prams may be tricky but not impossible.
