My partner and I stayed at the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel for 3 nights in March, It is ia lovely historic hotel not huge but in a great location in The Rocks away from the main drag but an easy walk to everything, including Circular Quay. We had a lovely attic style room - the bed was huge and really comfortable. It was really clean and quiet -considering we were above a hotel! After a day of sight seeing it was great to be able to drop off our stuff in our room and head back down to the bar to sample the hotel beers and a Ploughman's lunch or two. The staff were really friendly and the bar had a welcoming ambience with lots of locals eating and drinking there each night. The only downside was that there is no onsite parking but we found a local carpark within walking distance where we left our car for the three days , as we certainly didn't need it in Sydney. We will definitely go back and hubbie is happy as he found the Lord Nelson beers here in Melbourne.

After a terrible few night elsewhere I entered the Lord Nelson hotel with some trepidation - to find Sydney best kept secret. A great hotel, sound proofing stopped any noise from the brewery down stairs. We had a lovely glimpsed of the harbour bridge from our spacious room. Cleaning and all other hotel staff obviously care. I should not tell you more or I might miss out on a booking when I want it. Fabulous location with large trees out the window, autumn leaves were falling...

I booked at the Lord Nelson Brewery for our last three days in Australia largely based on Trip Advisor reviews - and they were spot on!! We had a fantastic room (and quiet) and fabulous meals at both the restaurant (pricey but great) and the pub (noisy, crowded but a fun atmosphere and fantastic food and drink!) The location was outstanding and the price very reasonable, particularly as it included breakfast (which had been a $20-25/2 persons extra at most AU motels we had stayed at). The staff could not have been more helpful including hauling our bags up three flights of stairs, and helping us reconfirm flights. We could easily walk to Sydney Bridge, the Opera House, botanical gardens, quay and almost all downtown attractions. Would love to be back there right now!

Stayed at The Lord Nelson for four nights (Tuesday to Friday). Thought it was a great place to base our Sydney part of our NSW holiday.

Rooms were clean and spacious, we had a share bathroom but never saw anyone else using it.

The pub below can be a little noisy but they close at 11 so it did not disturb us much at all, and it was a great place to grab a tasty beer after a day out sight seeing before heading out for the night.

The price included breakfast each morning wich mae it super good value.

Would defenately stay again!!

We can't recommend this superb hotel enough. The room was spacious and the food available from the pub downstairs was excellent - especially on Pie Night. We had a real welcome from the staff and locals and found it a brilliant place to explore the city centre nearby and escape from it. Despite being above a pub in a busy area at nightime we had plenty of rest and weren't kept awake. There a local convenience shops nearby and we really felt like we were among the locals. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: One with a streetview is cool

Stayed here for 3 nights in an ensuite room. The room itself is nothing to complain about but checking in was rather impersonal as you have to wait your turn at the bar which took an awful long time. We arrived quite late in the evening and were very tired after a long flight from Hongkong. If you want to eat in the bar you just have to be lucky. There are no extra advantages for staying guests. One thing I missed in the room was a hair dryer. My long hair takes ages to dry! The breakfast was very meagre, we never saw peanut butter or yoghurt which is mentioned on the continental breakfast menu. We did ask for more special things like cheese or bacon which wasn't charged extra by a very nice English girl who served us always with a smile! One word of warning: they have very expensive WiFi, we didn't bother and found our own solution which was much cheaper.

My husband and I stayed at the Lord Nelson during our honeymoon for 3 nights. We splurged for the ensuite bathroom which was well worth the money with a rather large tub (it fit 2!) The continental breakfast was fantastic and we found ourselves wishing we had it at the other hotels we stayed in around Australia. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is well maintained and clean. The bar downstairs is apparently the place to be as it was very crowded from 3pm-11 every day of the week. Although the Sydney bar scene appeared to frequent downstairs, we never heard noise in our room. The location is perfect, happily situated in the cutest of Sydney's neighborhoods called "The Rocks" and it's a very easy walk to the Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge and the subway station and ferry docks. We would happily stay here again if we return to Sydney. And a special thanks to Caroline, who greeted us with our "flat whites" and toast every morning.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the bathroom!
