“Easy access to Darling Harbour”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

We looked for cheap accommodation, and would stay here again. The only room available had twin ( bunk beds ) beds that slept 4. The room was more than adequate size wise, had TV and heating. The shared toilet was just outside the room. A shared shower very close by. The shower room has a wash basin, was cramped with no hanging space. Plenty of hot water. Breakfast was available for $7.50 a person. Cereal, juice and toast, stewed fruit, tea and coffee were fine for a basic breakfast.

Room Tip: Pay more and get an ensuite room.

Stayed here for one night in August 2012. My friend had already stayed here a couple of times before. We had a twin room with a shared bathroom. I thought the location (5 minutes walk to to Darling Harbour, 30 minutes walk to Central Station) was great. The hotel itself was just fine. The room was clean and comfortable and the shared bathroom was spacious and clean. I don't think you can expect much more for that price in Sydney being as close to all the amenities as it is. I am going back to Sydney this year and will be staying here again.

Me and my fiancé stayed here for three nights, lovely location - 15/20 minute walk to the city and a short 5 minute walk to Darling Harbour. The only things that ruined my opinion of the place/my experience there was that the shower (no bathroom/toilet in the rooms, all shared) had two temperatures; scalding hot and freezing cold. After returning from said shower one morning, I came into my room to find a random woman in there who turned out to be a maid but she had no uniform and could not speak much English - at first I thought our room was being robbed! The best thing was that the hotel reception staff were all so lovely and helpful. At $89 a night for our stay, it was good value but you get what you pay for!

I spent 2 nights at the Woolbrokers as I had to attend a training course in the city. the location is great. It's right next to Darling Harbour and about a 30 minute walk from Central Station, or a short stroll to the light rail to take you there. It's a 5 minute walk from the Ian Thorpe swimming centre/ gym and there are some shops and restaurants across the road.
The shower and toilet were shared between 3 rooms, but the other 2 rooms were empty so I had them to myself. The room was tidy with the only negative being very old carpet, which should be replaced to modernise the room.
Despite being in the heart of the city, the room was very quiet and I slept well.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room. It worked for me.

I expected "budget" but what I got was a bug-infested, lumpy-bedded, dingy and noisy room. Service was non-existent - when I told the front counter staff there were bugs in the room, she said "bugs, what sort of bugs?", which clearly was not the actual problem. No apology even provided.

Great if your on a budget and just want somewhere clean to sleep. We got an air conditioned room with an ensuite, king size bed and bunks for $130 on a Saturday. Rooms aren't modern, and very basic, (bathroom was brand new), but you would expect that for the location and price. It's only a very short walk to Darling Harbour and public transport. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking is great, right across the road for $12 overnight, can't get better than that in the city. If you've had a big night out and return to the hotel intoxicated then the street noise and lights probably won't bother you, although in saying that our room was at the front entrance of the hotel on street level so it might be less noisier on the higher levels.

This hotel was in an excellent location, is a pretty good priced & has cheap parking.

The downside for us was the massive stains on the curtains & blankets which were quite off putting & left us trying to avoid touching....
