Like many others, we chose the lastminute.com mystery 5-star hotel. When we discovered that this was the Amora with many poor reviews, we were worried about what we were paying for.
Definitely not a 5 star by any stretch of the imagination. The so-called King bed was actually 2 single beds pushed together - yep, complete with seam and lumpy topper and in constant danger of being swallowed by the gap.
Felt like the princess and the pea, where the pea was basketball sized.
Room decor was a bit faded and jaded, but at least the bathroom worked and seemed cleaned :-)
The pool was a joke - about 10m x 5m wide; so didn't even bother trying.
Since we were there on the easter weekend, the food court downstairs was dead, and in fact the whole area was very quiet, but this was to be expected really (hence the often "low key" description). I would hate to be here during business hours - great view of the offices and I assume vice versa.
Wifi was free and worked, though really slow.
Overall, it would honest to call this a 4-star hotel then our expectations would not be so high.More
