The Amora hotel is extremely cool. From the concierges that always open the door for you to the superb views over the CBD, this place is excellent value.

The reception is pristine, the room is sumptuous and stylish and the spa and pool area is small but relaxing. You're also only a short walk from the very cool Rocks area and Circular Quay.

We can't comment on the food, but the bar was just ok. There was something about its layout that was not quite relaxing, the wines weren't great and they seemed to close early. The real saving grace was the charming singing pianist. He tried hard and cheered us up quite a lot.

I had some difficulty getting replies to my reservation request when I first tried to book here and I don't think they had spotted that I needed an early check in and was willing to pay if necessary. But when I arrived at the hotel the service was great. It was really busy but they worked hard to get me a room as quickly as possible. The room itself was pleasant and the bathroom was really clean and modern. It was quiet despite being the heart of the city close to the Harbour, and I had a reasonable view out to sea as well. The gym was quite small but I particularly liked the spa and pool area, which although indoors, has a large balcony so you can sit outside. Finally, I had to leave at a hideous hour in the morning but my taxi, ordered the night before by the porter, was ready and waiting and check out was swift. I hope to go to Sydney again and definitely would like to stay here again.

This was our second visit to the Amora. We were offered an upgrade at check in (at a discounted rate, not free) which we took and glad that we did. The room was a corner of the building with three windows and even a peek-a-boo view of the Harbour. It was quite spacious and as with all of the Amora rooms, a fantastic big bathroom, with a deep bath and seperate shower. From the bath (with the lights off) you can sit and look out over the city toward Circular Quay.
The staff are very friendly and check in and check out were hassle free and quick. We had a booking at a restaraunt elsewhere so cannot rate the food at the Amora.
The location is excellent, very close to Wynyard Station, a little bit further to the Quay but quite an easy walk.
The bed is very comfy and the rooms quiet.
Overall we got a good deal and were happy with our stay, but the room is showing signs of wear, and the 5 star rating is probably no longer applicable, perhaps 4 star would be more appropriate.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room, I forget the actual term for the room, it could be a Corner Superior?

The most important take-away from this review is that we enjoyed our stay immensely and would definitely stay here again! The quality of the stay and the service was excellent; however, the condition of the hotel is over ranked as a 5 star.
When we arrived, Reception was unable to find our reservation, so I presented the reservation confirmation from an online booking site for our Corner King Room. The kind young man at Reception asked us to give him a few minutes to locate it and directed us to the sofa in the Lobby. We only sat for a minute or two when he came for us saying we did not need to wait since he had the confirmation and our credit card information, he could locate it without our having to wait. He told us our room was ready (even though it was around 10a...well before the standard check-in time....SWEET!) Reception handled this little hiccup with class and with minimal inconvenience, so we were off to a great start.
Now, the areas where, in my opinion, they deserve a 5 star rating: Many, many points given for the superb location. Points given for the large room, complete with a view of Sydney Harbour, and for having a very comfortable king bed with high quality sheets. Points for the sparkling clean bathroom, featuring both a tub and a shower. Points for the complimentary WiFi, it was so appreciated! Points for the Happy Hour at the bar, with excellent service by the young lady originally from El Salvador. Points for having an accessible Business Center. Points for elevators that are plentiful so, even at check-out hours, one doesn't need to wait and wait. Points for the in-room coffeemaker and mini-fridge that allowed us to keep our water cold.
Now comes the areas where I need to take away points: The carpet throughout the hotel is camel colored, so, even if it is not any dirtier than most hotels, it appears to be dirtier. We saw this in our room, and it was pretty gross, as well as on the circular carpet from the Lobby to the bar/restaurant. I am sure that when the carpet was new, the place looked gorgeous, but it is time for a change. The desk in our room was scratched, the nightstands mistreated and the chair stained. These are all things that could be easily renovated, making the hotel's condition to match the guest's experience!

Room Tip: Pay the additional for the Corner Suite. On Hotel.com, the upgrade charge was minimal and the view a...

The hotel is beautiful, the staff is helpful and friendly and you can't beat the location. My room was quite comfortable and quiet. I was traveling alone and staff was extremely helpful with any questions I had. Delicious restaurants, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Shopping, Darling Harbour all within walking distance.

We only stayed the one night on our way home from an overseas holiday and got this holiday via a secret holiday deal on Wotif. They did advise at the time it was a disable room, but would have preferred a contained shower area as we had to mop up the bathroom after each shower but that is all part of the secret...

The room was clean, in a great spot close to The Rocks, it has free Wi_Fi and the staff are lovely... just didn't like our supersoft bed or room.

Didn't use any of the facilities at this hotel and the hotel validates the self parking at around $42.00 which I though expensive.

Wouldn't rush back to this hotel

Room Tip: Be careful if getting a secret hotel deal...unless you want an accessible room

The Amora Sydney Jamison is a great value five star hotel located conveniently in the CBD.
The hotel includes complimentary WiFi to all guests which is unusual for any hotel in Sydney. The WiFi is reliable and has great coverage throughout the hotel. However it is limited to 1mbps download speed, so it's only sufficient for emails and internet browsing.

The rooms were great, but the TV was awkwardly located at the side of the bed. This made it difficult to watch TV from the bed comfortably. A PlayStation is available in the room. However, it is very overpriced and seriously outdated (PlayStation 2(?) with one prehistoric controller).

Service was consistently professional and friendly as expected from a five star hotel. Service met or even exceeded my expectations.

The indoor pool was a little small but pleasant to use and there is a sauna and hot spa available.

Even though a lot of additional services (such as the room service and the mini bar) had highly inflated listed prices, it's a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it.
