“Woeful. Terribe staff, slow, below average food.”

Not much positie to say. Only still in business because of once only toursists. Staff were fekless, slow and need training. Food was very average. Items never delivered that were ordered. Would not let us pay part cash part credit card. Requests made for items ignored or forgotten. Pathetic.

“Quick Bite with a Local Beer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013 via mobile

We were looking for a quick bite for lunch with a local beer as we toured this part of Sydney on foot. The locally brewed beers are a plus and what we tried was tasty. But they had only 2 of the 5 beers listed on menu available to order. The food was good and served quickly.

We sat outdoors and were comfortable because the heaters were running. Indoors we could smell cigarette smoke and so we avoided that area.

“A shadow of it's former glory”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

Having been to the James Squire Brewhouse many times I had always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, food and boutique beers. I booked in for dinner thinking the James Squire beers were still on tap given that their website directs you to the renamed restaurant only to learn that the restaurant and bar have changed hands completely. The beers are from a different brewery and are to put it mildly terrible. The service was fair to middling, the food was still decent but not worth the noise and dis-organisation associated with the place.

All in all there are much better options for a meal in the area.

“Great place for a beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

Staying the night in Sydney, we were on the lookout for somewhere for a quiet drink or two before heading to dinner. This was our second stop and we were getting a little peckish, so we decided to share the Ploughman's Board, which for an extra $10 came with a tasting paddle of some of their excellent beers. Ordered at the bar, and the beers were brought over quickly. The waiter was excellent and told us a little about each of the beers. Two particularly were to my taste but all five were good. The board was a nice mix of two dips, cold deli meats, and pickled veggies, filled the spot nicely. We stayed for another drink - full-sized this time. Lovely place to sit outside and enjoy the view. Though it can get quite busy we could still hear each other talking easily.

Also as a side note to another reviewer below: I paid with EFTPOS, so it's not true that the place only accepts cash, though perhaps they were having issues that night.

“Very very good beer”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 October 2013

Searching Sydney for a great beer, then Darling Harbour and King Street Brewhouse is the place to be. Happy hour is 4 - 7 and a pint or great local ale is $5. Great great value and a fantastic atmosphere.
