“Long lift waits and no water pressure”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Stayed here with some friends recently on a visit from Perth. Overall, the room was spacious and clean and served us well.

On the negative side, the lifts are very slow (probably due to the number of floors in the building), at one stage, we waited for nearly 10 minutes for a lift to arrive. Also, the bathrooms/showers have poor water pressure.

Dear MatP3,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

I was pleased to see that you were mostly impressed with the apartment and facilities.
Please accept my apologies for any lift delays during your stay. In regards to the water pressure, I can apologise if this did not meet your expectations.

We do hope you will continue to choose MSA when making your next booking in Sydney or QLD.

Loved the location, so close to everything in the CBD.
One bed suite was great, excellent beds and amenities.
Staff were great and accommodated a change to our booking with absolutely no fuss at all.
Would definitely stay next time we are back in Sydney.

The penthouse apartment was very spacious and comfortable. The views were spectacular and the apartment was very centrally located with China Town, Darling harbour, Circular Quay and the Rocks all within walking distance. The apartment is perfect for a group of friends or couples travelling together where a little more space is required compared to a hotel room. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Meriton for a week after reading all the positive reviews on Tripadvisor tho it was very expensive. Check in was very friendly and information provided. I had booked a one bedroom apartment and we were upgraded to a two bedroom as it was more roomy, tho the door to the 2nd bedroom was locked. It would have been good to have been able to use that room to put one of our large suitcases in. We had good views looking down on Pitt Street and over towards George Street so there was always something to look at when outside on the balcony. The apartment itself was a very good size for the two of us and had a decent kitchen with a full stove, microwave and full sized fridge with a freezer. The kitchen contained practically everything needed and plenty of crockery and cutlery. There was also a washing machine and dryer.
We did receive a lot of street noise at night which was at its worst on Friday and Saturday and took a few nights to get used to.
Everything is very handy - McDonalds just a 5 min walk away and so is KFC if you want that sort of food, otherwise there are loads of little eating places all around and you are really spoilt for choice! The city shopping centre is no more than about 10 mins walk away and the Town Hall train station is also only 5 mins away, as is a very good Woolies supermarket. You really don't need a car when staying here unless of course you want to travel out and about.
As for annoyances - the sound on the main TV in the lounge area would constantly just turn off on certain channels which was very annoying as we had to turn the TV off, then on again to get it back. I did mention it at reception when departing but it sounded like my comment wasn't taken seriously and that this happened and nothing would be done about it. The housekeeping could do to get their act together better too. Perfect for a few days then no face cloths or hand towels left one day - we rung for some to be bought up and they never were. Rung again the following morning and we finally received them. Then another day - only one face cloth left (there were two of us staying) and again at another time - a folded bath mat was left instead of face cloths! There seemed to be linen cupboards on each floor which I imagine its someones job to constantly restock them as we saw this happening. I think this doesn't always happen so when an item of linen runs out then the guest just misses out as the housekeeper doesn't go to where ever and get some more of the missing items. We couldn't use the room safe either as it had been locked open and we didn't want to hang around in our holiday time waiting while someone came in to fix it. This was mentioned at reception too but again sort of dismissed as unimportant. Maybe trival but not good enough really when we paid the best part of $2000 for a weeks accommodation!!
There are 3 lifts to access floors and these were very slow during the weekends with lots more people staying. It was annoying at times when one of the lifts was obviously being held on one of the floors leaving only two lifts which were very slow due to the number of people trying to use them.
Apart from these small annoying things and the cost which is because of the very convenient location in the middle of Sydney, this is a good place to stay and I would recommend it. We would certainly consider staying here again.

Room Tip: Perhaps ask for a room where the street noise is not so loud.

We booked a SkyView 1 bed apartment, and were on the 40th floor with balcony.

First, every member of staff we encountered was friendly and helpful.
The apartment was clean and comfortable.
Pitt Street is an excellent location, within walking distance of many of the places we wanted to visit. (The Aquarium is only a short walking distance away.) And there's a free bus, very close by, which runs along George Street between the railway station, and very close to Sydney Opera House.

Apartment was lovely, well furnished, and extremely well equipped - only thing missing was a clothes horse style dryer for items you didn't want to tumble dry.
The washing machine and tumble drier were both excellent - and both a big improvement on UK performances! (Clothes came out very clean, and were dried gently without any shrinking!)
Good to have access to the gym, pool and the jacuzzi - hint for the jacuzzi - the 'on' button is located on the wall in the corner, above the emergency stop button! Took me a while to find it as it's not marked!

October is, as has been mentioned, moth breeding season, so the balcony, although big and spacious is out of bounds for that month.
We were given what we booked. However, even though we got a 2-bed apartment, which was more spacious in the living area, the 2nd bedroom door was locked! A bit mean, we felt.

And the view was mostly street scenes - the noise from the nearby air conditioners on top of the buildings was extremely loud. So between the moths and the noise, the balcony was wasted.

Night time was quiet and peaceful and we were able to get over our jetlag.

In this apartment, the bathroom was accessed only through the bedroom - not ideal. And its soundproofing was non-existent. Every time the bathroom light was switched on, it disturbed the one who was still sleeping.

Overall, with the friendly staff and the excellent central location and the cleanliness, this was somewhere we could consider revisiting - with a different room location away from other buildings' air con noise.

Thanks to the great staff!

Room Tip: The higher the better, and not directly opposite buildings with noisy aircon. Don't bother wit...

If you want to be in central Sydney, this is the place for you. New, clean with great service. Not far from the Queen Victoria mall, Town Hall, Hyde park and good bus connections. Close to St Andrews and St Paul's, decent pubs and restaurants in Chinatown.

Room Tip: A higher floor room with city views

We had 3 nights at the Meriton Apartments on Pitt Street and can't fault it. We had booked a studio apartment but were upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment on the 36th floor which gave us views of the Town Hall, the Queen Victoria Building and the Sydney Tower. The room was spotless and spacious. As someone has previously mentioned, the bed was a little hard but that was the only negative. There was plenty of storage space, a safe and a hairdryer.

The kitchen was fully equipped with oven, microwave and dishwasher and the laundry with washing machine, dryer and iron & ironing board. The only thing that was missing was a folding clothes air dryer or line. All of this would make it a perfect place to stay for a family holiday.

All the staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful.
