“outside Cinema”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014

We went to see Dirty dancing at the outside cinema in Centennial Park, what a brilliant experience that was, we purchased the gold tickets which gives you a huge beanbag to lie on right at the front, brilliant view, waiter service for food and drink, huge fruit bats flying overhead just as it started to get dark. Amazing, audience participation was pretty cool too. Loved it.

“Much beloved local landmark”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 January 2014

The park is 125 years old (I know this because the planted flowers told me so!) and is a greatly used, much loved local park. The circuit walk is about 4 kilometers and takes between 50 mins to an hour of solid walking (running you can knock it over much faster) It's used a lot by the locals, walking briskly under hundred year old trees, with the occasional horse riding by on the horse track. It's a great exercise and a much used track..

If you are a tourist, it's actually best to come during the week, because it really is busy on the weekends. It's terrific for kids of all ages, there are parks, run around space and of course, the ducks. The black swans and ducks are so tame they will take bread from your hand, and they expect food, so don't come without!

The kiosk is over priced but good quality. There is a more high end restaurant there too, less kid friendly but lovely for lunch, There is loads of parking inside the park but you can also catch buses to the main entrances.

“Large and good for family gatherings”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 December 2013

Probably better suited for locals - it is not a great park as a destination point unless perhaps you are going to ride a horse there. Obviously many people use it for a thoroughfare as a shortcut but it it is still important that suburbs retain some greenery and parks for relaxing.
Having driven through nearby suburbs this morning where so many new high-rise apartments are being built, Centennial Park and any other park becomes more important than ever.

“Overrated, over-used Park”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2013

Apart from the proximity to the last inner city stables in Sydney and the opportunity to see magnificent horses at close range (whether or not you ride), Centennial Park can and should be missed. Every event I've been to in this Park has been a let down - from a Sydney Dance Company production on an outdoor stage more than 2 decades ago to the recent 125 year celebration of the park's establishment with ridiculous music 'compositions' comprising (not very good) birdsong as a backdrop.

“Lots of Fresh Air and Fun”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 November 2013

This very large parkland is located in the Eastern part of the city of Sydney and was built to celebrate the first hundred years of European settlement in Sydney. The park has precincts, each one more interesting than the last, and creating a sense of a larger expanse of space. There are ponds with wild life in abundance. There are open fields for running around in or a spontaneous game kicking a ball around. There are spots for a quite romantic cold chicken and champagne lunch in a basket, there are larger spaces with BBQ facilities for families or large groups. There is a restricted speed roadway around and through the centre of the park. There is a horse riding trail around the park as well. You can park inside the park, and you can dine or snack in a restaurant and snack bar inside the park. There are heavily tree-d areas for getting lost in, there is a pine forest. There is long grass to hide in and there is a children's bike riding precinct. There are rocky outcrops for children to explore and play hide and seek. There are occasions when open air movies are shown here, and there is a beautiful rotunda designed by the Sydney architect Tzannis.
