I have done this walk three times, all starting from the Spit Bridge. It is a little difficult finding the track around Clontarf, but otherwise the route is clearly marked. Views over Sydney Harbour are magnificent, particularly on a sparkling, sunny day. The approach into Manly, with its cosmopolitan feel is superb, Once at Manly there are many activities to engage in. There is also a bus to get back to The Spit, where you may have left your car for the start of the walk.

This walk is pretty long, it took us just above 3 hours to cover the distance. It is not too intense, but there are a few uphill stretches which makes it a bit challenging. The walk is very pleasant with some great views and scenery changing between beaches, hills, rocks, bushes and suburban streets.

It seems amazing such a walk which at times feels so remote and in the wilderness is interspersed with great views of Sydney Harbour. A wonderful free attraction.

We did the 10km walk from Spit to Manly wharf. Some of the walk is similar to the one in the blue mountains with the ocean added as a bonus.

We got the bus to drop us off just before the bridge and followed the drivers advice to head to the pathway. En route met a wonderful chap from the UK and enjoyed 3 hours of brilliant scenic torture. The views were stunning and we'd often feel we could "touch" Manly, only to find another bay ahead. We couldn't believe it when we landed in North Harbour to see. "2km" sign! However the exhilaration was amazing and the drink in the Manly Wien Bar afterwards was well earned.
Don't come to Sydney to see only the man-made wonders. Take time, to enjoy the natural environment and you won't be disappointed.
