I was lucky to be squeezed in to the last tour of the day after missing out earlier. I love listening to stories about people and their lives in times gone by and Susannah Place has a wonderful history. Being able to sit on the furniture to get somewhat comfy and listen to our guide, Grant, tell us about the good and bad times was engrossing.

Grant was a terrific story teller and didn't hesitate with answers when asked questions outside of the standard. That, to me, is someone who loves his job.

I have never been to a museum quite like this. The museum has been kept to its original state. It gave you a glimpse of how difficult life is during the olden times. Its worth the money to go to this museum. It is a must see. You do however need to call them first before proceeding as they could only take 10 pax on
one tour. Overall, a thumbs up.

“A real museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

This is a little insight into how life was like for those dwelling in the tight community of the Rocks over a hundred years ago. The simplicity of the establishment and a revelation to us how difficult life must have been with little modern conveniences. I recommend this important little museum .

“Insightful and well worth it”

This museum is charming and brimming with history. For a very reasonable price you will be treated to a guided tour of the 3 houses and the shop. The knowledgable guide will take you through stories of the people that lived in the houses and the surrounding community and also a wider history of Sydney and The Rocks area itself in which these houses are located. By preserving and not restoring these buildings you feel totally immersed in the history and it creates a real atmosphere. Whether you are in Sydney only briefly or for a while you must make this part of your visit. Highly recommended.
