“Nice hotel”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

This hotel was in a great location with our room having a partial view of Darling Harbour. The room was clean, spacious and modern with everything you need. There were only two minor things I was disappointed with. Firstly, I had called prior to our stay regarding the bathroom set up as the room description stated a shower/bath combination or stand up shower. I was asked by the staff member which one I would like so requested a stand up shower however, when we arrived it was a bath/shower combination. Secondly, we paid for a one bedroom deluxe apartment due to its king size bed but when we arrived it was two single beds pushed together with a king size sheet over the top. The gap in between was quite obvious when laying on it so that was a bit of a downfall. These were only minor issues though that did not affect our overall stay at the hotel and I would definitely recommend staying there if you're heading to Sydney.

Good location, good space, and all necessities you need. They don't have much of a restaurant but there are heaps of other places around. Bed clean and comfortable. No bath shower only. Kitchenette basic but good enough to cook a full meal

Room Tip: High floor

Stayed here for 2 nights in November. Price was decent as it was discounted corporate rate. The room we booked was supposed to be a 1 bedroom deluxe apartment but from the looks of it, it was a studio whereby the room was partitioned off using sliding doors. I wouldn't complain if it was called a 1 bedroom apartment or even a studio but considering it had a "deluxe" term in there, it's a little misleading.

Bed was comfortable and lounge/dining were also sufficiently sized (again, commenting it based on it being a 1-bedroom apartment and not a "deluxe"). Toilet/bath was also pretty big but the wardrobde was horrendously small. Due to the odd angle of the room, the wardrobe was barely usable. As it was only the both of us, we just mostly took clothes out from the luggage.

Location wise, Mantra is great; situated 2 roads behind QVB and very close to the Pyrmont bridge. Deco might be a little dated and cleanliness is generally alright. Jeffrey at the front-desk was probably 1 of the most polite and helpful staff there. 2 thumbs up to him.

Dear kevinleng,

Thank you for your review for Mantra on Kent.

Great to hear our team looked after you well and we will be sure to pass on the feedback to Jeffrey.

We understand room layout and configurations are a personal preference, perhaps next time you stay with us request a balcony allocation for your One Bedroom Deluxe as this may better suit your needs (the view is not as good but there is a little extra room!).

Once again thank you for the feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

This Hotel only had it's location going for it - that is, if you want to stay in the CBD. For the cost, it was extremely underwhelming. I will admit that the room was clean, but beyond that, it had little else going for it. The towel hooks on the back of the door were placed (not fixed) to the door - it made them pointless. Had to ask for additional bath towels. Not digital stations available on the TV (guess they won't have television available after the 10th December ??). Dimmer in living area didn't work. Lighting in wardrobe didn't work. The room was minimalistic. Had to climb over the bed to get into bed because the bedroom was so small that the bed was pushed up against the wall. The hot water was extremely hot - definite possibility of getting a serious burn if you weren't aware - not ideal for young children. Breakfast was minimalistic, but okay. I would never return to this Hotel - even if they gave it to me for free.

Room Tip: Don't have any advice on this.

Dear Omissam61,

We appreciate you taking the time to pass on your feedback from your recent stay at Mantra on Kent. Pleased to hear you found our location convenient and rooms clean.

I was disappointed to read the layout of the rooms were not to your preference. We do have a number of variations in configurations so please don't hesitate to contact the hotel or myself direct on paul.seaman@mantra.com.au if there are specific needs we can attend to for future stays. Rest assured we will follow-up with our housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure all items in rooms are in working order.

I'm pleased to confirm we are "digital ready" and have upgrades in place for our entertainment offering at the hotel from January next year.

Once again thanks for your feedback and we do hope you change your mind and return soon.

All the best.

I have stayed at both Mantra on Kent and Mantra on Bond and both are a great location with easy walking to the Pitt Street mall. Trains stations are also close to both properties. If you are planning a shopping trip Mantra on Kent is so close to the shops that you can pop back and drop bags off, grab a drink or go to the toilet. I have stay here a few times now and never had any problems.

The Mantra on Kent is located in a quieter area of the CBD and has helpful and efficient staff. The rooms are reasonably sized and are comfortable, if a bit dark. You are 3 minutes walk away from Town Hall train station, 5 minutes to Darling Harbour and 20 minutes to Circular Quay and the Rocks.

All in all it's a comfortable hotel in a good area for either sightseeing and public transport.

The only issue would be the wifi. You have to pay for this and it is painfully slow. It's only capable of picking up email and the simplest of social media. If you need to do anything for business or even want to view data rich web-pages you'll need to make other arrangements.

I stayed at the Mantra on Kent for 2 nights on 20 and 21st November. I've been to many Mantra's around Australia and they all are very efficient and pleasant. This was no different, as I found my stay at Mantra on Kent to be very comfortable. There is no great view, but then for a quick business trip you hardly need that. My room was just a standard long rectangular room with a laundry, small wardrobe, sofa, TV, and open-plan kitchenette with all the normal tea and coffee facilities.

I had a couple of issues with my door keys and had to go down twice to get them sorted out, but apart from this I really enjoyed my stay. Quiet, clean... and very close to the city. A short walk to everything in the CBD really including Darling Harbour. If you're looking for a comfortable hotel but do not want to pay Sydney's ridiculous prices, then Mantra might be a great match for you. If you're looking for a grand lobby area with chandeliers, and a 5,000metre swimming pool then this is not your place, but for every other purpose Mantra on Kent is a great place to stay!
