The worst experience in a hotel that I have ever had. Construction during our visit ruined our stay. Our room was covered in dust and we were unable to sleep after a 16 hour flight from the USA. The hotel never cleaned our room after 4 days and we had to request new towels because our towels were damp and smelled. The double bed was small and hard. After taking a shower a hotel staff member walked into our room without knocking and I was in my shower. We had so many problems that we decided to find another hotel. We booked 8 nights and only stayed 3 nights. We spent our first 2 days of our vacation exhausted and looking for a new hotel. Disgusting service, dusty rooms, and stressful noise ruined part of our vacation. Oh, we were given 2 coffee vouchers because of the brick removal and noise. Warning! Do no stay here!

Room Tip: Do not stay here! Dusty, Old, Smelly, Horrible service!

I'm a New Yorker who just returned from 3 days at the Springfield Lodge and I don't have any complaints. Keep in mind, however, that this is a boutique hotel. You wont have a big bathroom and a flat screen TV or other little amenities that the commercial hotels have. (You need to request a hair dryer from the front desk and there isn't an iron) What you will have is an affordable place to sleep and shower (the bathroom is small) and you'll be within walking distance to a lot of attractions. I walked to just about all the places I had on my "must-see" list. It wasn't quiet, but it wasn't Animal House. They do offer shuttle service to the airport for $11 per person but I'd advise against it. We made quite a few stops, about an hours worth and the airport is only 20 mins tops. There's a friendly and helpful staff and the Petrol cafe in the front of the hotel is adorable and a great place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast before walking to see all the sights. If I'm lucky enough to get to Sydney again I'll be staying here.

The location of this hotel was excellent - near public transport, within walking distance along the harbour and through the Botanic Gardens to the Opera House. The street was very quiet and the hotel had a great strretside cafe. The staff at reception were extremely helpful.
The only negative was the floorboards meant that everyone movement on the floor above could be heard and that caused late night wake ups and early morning wake ups. Towels and linene are changed every two days.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on the second floor(also the top floor) to avoid the noise from movements at night in the rooms above.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your comments and feedback for future visitors to Springfield Lodge. We're always trying to outdo ourselves at Sydney Lodges, so it's great to hear about real guest experiences.

We're glad to hear you enjoyed the location of Springfield Lodge, we think it's one of the most central spots to stay when visiting Sydney due to it's proximity to so many Sydney attractions and popular districts.

It's great to hear you got to enjoy some of the fabulous cuisine at Petrol Cafe at the front of Springfield Lodge. It really is a very popular cafe among travellers and Potts Point locals as well.

Thank you for your feedback about the noise from the floor boards. We have had a few notes about this issue and are currently undertaking a project to rectify this. Your comments have been passed to the management team in charge of this project.

Thank you again for taking the time to leave your comments. We hope to see you again in the future.

We love our stays with the friendly crew at Springfield Lodge. We also enjoy our clean, fresh room, the very comfortable big bed and the peace and quiet, even though we are a stone's throw from Darlinghurst Road, the metro and the buses. Springfield Lodge is a dream find in the bustle of beautiful Sydney. We shall always try to book here as our first option although all these good reviews may mean we cannot get a room!!!

Room Tip: Book early and request a room at the back of the hotel.
