Its only a 10 minute walk to Kings Cross station, and there is a bus right outside the door. The room was pretty small, but it was only a single. Helpful staff, and very quiet for a Friday / Saturday night!

We stayed here for approx 10 days whilst working in Sydney and it provided just what we needed.

Fridge, microwave, kettle, sink & cutlery/plates in room very useful.

Shared bathroom but no problems, we knew this when we booked.

Room serviced once a week, again - no problems, we prefer to be left alone most of the time!

Great location for walking into Sydney centre, plenty of amenities very close by and great transport links to train/buses.

Shame there was no wireless internet available as this would have made things ideal, however there are internet cafes, cafes & mcdonalds with free wireless and also Kings Cross library with computer access and also free wireless all nearby.

Summary:
You will struggle to get any cheaper accommodation in Sydney that is not in a backpackers, this was just what we needed.

Stayed for 2 nights in a single room. Room was very modern & clean. Kitchenette with fridge, sink, crocery, cutlery and microwave. Bathroom (shared with 3 other rooms) was spotless and modern. Never had to wait for the bathroom. There are mirrors in the rooms, so no need to waste time in the bathroom after getting out of the shower. Reception closes at 8pm, but room key opens the front door. Staff were always helpful and friendly. Bus to airport costs $12 - which staff can arrange for you ($3 cheaper than catching the train). Large woolworths supermarket 4 doors away. Kings Cross train station 5min walk. Alternatively, you can walk through the gardens to the CBD in 15min - a lovely walk. Would stay again & recommend to others.

Macleay Lodge was welcoming, not only in the personal sense but in the facilities in the room. A mini kitchen for having a tea and toast or heating in the microwave. Good quality bed and a quiet sleep. Very clean and presentable. It's very handy to some of the best parts of Sydney. A good ambience.

My sister and I had an enjoyable stay at Mcleay Lodge in Sydney. The room was great, the beds were good, the location fantastic. If I had to give any constructive feedback I'd say, the bathroom could be a little cleaner, and there should be more blankets as we got very cold the first night.
Thank you for a wonderful Sydney stay!

Room Tip: 12a - next to bathroom and noisy, but balcony

We stayed in this hotel several times, the first room we stayed in was very nice, and was quiet and light the next time we stayed a few weeks later we were in a room behind reception, (room 3) which was very dark as it only had a small window which opened into about a half meter gap between two walls! it was very dark and gloomy! and it also had what seemed to be hot water tanks over half the window which made a humming noise all night!
overall this is a good place to stay for the money, as long as u are in one of the other rooms, the staff were helpfull and freindly, and its in a good location.

Room Tip: avoid room 3

This hotel is nothing fancy, but has everything you need and is in a great location. Staff were excellent to deal with. Rooms were small and a little tried but very clean. All the rooms have shared bathrooms.
