“Good value, convenient for Capital Theatre”

My teenage son and I had lunch here today before going to a matinee session of the Lion King at the Capital Theatre.

This is a pub' with plenty of seats, front and back and a varied 'pub style' menu. (I am not sure why it is listed her as an attraction, because its a pub restaurant!) We got into it via 'Capital Square' a small shopping centre with half a dozen mainly Asian restaurants in it.

All of the food, including ours looked good. Good portions and the prices were great.

I must say our lunch took nearly 40 minutes to arrive which is not really acceptable and no apology offered, but it did not deter. Luckily we had given ourselves ample time to eat before the show.

We would certainly go there again for a pre show meal.

We walked in and ordered just before 5pm, rump steak with salad or fries or mash $10 can order a side dish if wish, but must order a drink & meal at bar then sit down where you like. We had a glass reisling and a tap beer and total was $35.40. Choice of toppings on steak, salad had a nice dressing. We had been walking and missed lunch so was easy to eat early.

Dined here on my own. Hag the toasted sourdough with olive oil and pasta arrabiata. Didn't start well, the pasta and entree arrived with 60 seconds of each other, and the bread was dry not toasted. Oh well it was only $2. The pasta was excellent. Staff were great. For the price I'd say it's brilliant.

Went for a meal at the Palace Hotel at Sydney, with friends and cousins. A small homely restaurant, where you can be certain of having some great food. I settled for some grilled salmon, that sat on top of some baked potato with a little salad. The rest of the group tried the steak with fries, that was delicious and juicy, done medium rare. For wine, we had an Australian Shiraz that went well with the steak, while i savoured a Chardonnay. for desserts, we attempted the creme brulee, and the date roll also excellent fare. No fancy seating - rather ordinary, but if you are for great food, an excellent place to eat in Sydney
