“Handmade Dumpling & Noodle heaven! Brilllant food & awesome value!”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

The food here is totally excellent! The venue itself leave a lot to be desired and the staff could be a little more attentive. However the tasty, super fresh/hot food makes up for it completely! We've been coming back to this place now 1-2 times a month for a 4 years now and are never ever disappointed! The hand made noodles are to die for and the dumplings are just as good! All this for approx $60 for 4 people incl soft drinks! An awesome place to get authentic Chinese dumplings & noodles the flavours of their dishes are simply mind blowing! One of the very best in Sydney! Granted the 'decor' (if that's what you call it lol) is very very dated, but the staff and food certainly make up for it each and every single time we eat here! Love the fact that if they are busy (which is nearly 80% of the time we come) they will take your order while you are waiting and as soon as your table is ready - you sit down and your food is placed under your noses at the same time! = how's that for awesome service! We have noticed that more and more people are coming here and even more people queue up for their take away also! Keep it up guys, cause we'll be coming back for years to come!! Outstanding flavours!!

“Try the one on Bathurst St in the CBD (near Kent St)”
Reviewed 4 February 2014

Each time we come here (often after work when the food in the fridge just isn't enough to turn into a "proper" dinner - so, once a month at least) we're greeted with a beaming smile from the waitress. We have our "usual" order: hand-pulled noodles with chicken, and 10 pan-fried dumplings filled with tasty pork and chives. Sometimes we go all-out and order the braised eggplant... each time it's consistently good!

I think there are at least 3 versions of this restaurant around town? - one downstairs in the courtyard near the large Chinese supermarket, one around the corner (almost opposite Paddys) and our "regular", down on Bathurst St (near where Kent St crosses it). It's the same menu but our favourite one is definitely the one on Bathurst St. Give it a go - don't let the rough-and-ready entrance phase you!

“Dumpling paradise ”
Reviewed 29 January 2014 via mobile

I visited this small authentic Chinese noodle bar purely on recommendations from other travellers. I was staying close by, and arrived to find the place buzzing with people. This is an ideal place to get a quick bite to eat or take away. The service isn't great but they make up for it with their food! The pork and leek dumplings are absolutely beautiful (ask for a half serve because they are massive). I topped off the dumplings with traditional hand-made noodles with beef. The chefs were hand-making the noodles in front of us and they were divine! Amazing food and a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat!

“If you love dumplings.. ”

A great place when you're looking for something quick and dirty. Not the greatest service but you're in and out in no time. Try the eggplant dumplings.. They're the bomb!

“Get the braised eggplant!”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

We tried to find this restaurant after reading about it in a free Sydney guide that I picked up at the airport. Finding it was tough because the address in the guide wasn't correct (or the entrance wasn't on the street in the address). We actually ended up at its sister restaurant - Chinatown Noodle Restaurant. We found Chinese Noodle Restaurant the next day and ate there too. It turns out that they share a kitchen and the menus are the same so this review really applies to both. The food was so good we ate there twice during the trip. Definitely get the braised eggplant. I've never had anything like it and it was unbelievable! The steamed egg and chive dumplings were also recommended and were pretty good. We ordered noodle soup with chicken and vegetables and it was also excellent. Chinese Noodle Restaurant is notorious for being crazy busy but we found that we could get into Chinatown Noodle Restaurant right away. I say skip the line and go to the Chinatown one since the food is identical and both have speedy service. The atmosphere isn't the same but the food is why it's rated so high anyway.
